Re: Coronavirus COVID-19

Took a a look at the State by State vaccinated rate data in a different way to see if I could see evidence of vaccinated rate serving as a proxy indicator for likelihood of following public health recommendations in general. The idea is that people who are more likely to follow vaccination recommend...

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19

I finally got it. My wife is a realtor so she mixes with people a lot. She got symptoms and tested positive on January 31. i figured I'd get it since I slept with her and she woke up with symptoms and I was all snuggled up with her. She got on Paxlovid that evening. I think I may have started feelin...

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19

Some notes on COVID-19 deaths data: COVID-19 deaths are defined in a manner consistent with the way CDC has counted influenza deaths for many years . Here, from https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/faq.htm, is how CDC defines influenza deaths: Here, from https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/covid19/faq.htm, is...

Re: The Abortion Pill (Misoprostol) Case

As StOnge doesn't understand how the medical community actually works. Years ago, the company I worked for, came up with a way to look at the genetic sequences found in stool samples. The goal was to find genetic sequences that had sloughed off the intestinal wall as the stool passed through your d...

Re: The Abortion Pill (Misoprostol) Case

Even if you are against legal abortion, you should not like what is going on with the lawsuit before a Texas judge aimed at revoking FDA approval of the "abortion pill" Misoprostol. When it comes to the scientific debate associated with this case, on the side of the plaintiffs who want ap...

Just a State pride thing: Three of the top 14 receivers during the 2022-2023 NFL season, 1 Justin Jefferson of the Vikings, 11 Devnota Smith of the Eagles, and 14 Ja'marr Chase of the Bengals, played high school football within the area depicted in the map image below. Jefferson played at Destrehan ...

Re: AFC and NFC championships

The NFC championship game was extremely disappointing due to San Fransisco getting its Cinderella Story QB hurt early the game. Then they got the one backup they had left hurt. So they had no functional QB. Also sucked that San Fransisco's defense needed to play well in order to make the game compet...

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19

The other day I heard about DeSantis making an appearance with several people. One of them has apparently become popular in anti fax circles. It's Dr. Joseph Fraiman, an emergency medicine physician in Louisiana. There is some discussion of his work, among other things, at https://www.factcheck.org/...

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19

Just breaking it up a little into two posts to make one more point. The daily deaths we see in most places are not death certificates data. However, all indications are that they are pretty close to what the deaths certificate data say at any particular time and will say as more data come in. As of ...

That is false and has repeatedly been demonstrated as false . But I understand that there are some people on message boards like this that will continue to believe that. Nope. https://nypost.com/2023/01/14/dr-leana-wen-writes-that-covid-deaths-are-being-overcounted/ Because the New York Post report...

How did you respond to the conservative claims back then? Notice he doesn't mention the age disparity between Florida and NY? It's the same thing as him trying to pass off Red states as dying at a higher COVID rates when he neglects CDC studies showing those in rural areas aren't as healthy and die...

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19

Remember when, early in the pandemic, conservatives were comparing COVID-19 death rates in New York and Florida as a means of claiming DeSantis was doing things right? Early on, New York had a much higher death rate. As of July 1, 2020, New York's death rate was nearly 10 times Florida's. 1668 deat...

I mean, it's really bad. The instance that made me think that this morning was Congressman James Comer said that it...

Most importantly, there is no evidence that Biden intentionally took the materials nor has Biden resisted returning the materials to the National Archives. T...
