Re: Montana AD Talks FCS Finances

I hate when people say that schools lose money on football. No one is losing money. It may be an investment into something that may not create a fiscal return. But to say its a loss is just wrong, IMO. I don't understand that nuance - if you invest something (money) and don't get a return, that's s...

Re: Rank the CAA QB's

Plus Whitney has an advantage the other QB's don't - he doesn't have to play a real game against nova's defense. Kinda like when Dilfer didn't have to play against the Ravens defense. And he gets to practice against it. And he gets to go off to the sidelines and watch Szcur run the wildcat-ty...

Re: Barry's Head Still in the Sand

Yep, 69,456,897 were clueless last November. Obama brought many - perhaps millions - of new voters to the polls last year. I am going to swallow my anger and frustration at who and what they naively voted for to say that bringing new voters to the polls and into the process was a good t...

Re: As if Political Campaigns were't bad enough before......

In the end, this SCOTUS ruling will not change anything, other than continue the process of peeling away the terrible legislation (although good intent) that was McCain/Feingold. There will always, always be tons of money in politics and campaigns. To think this ruling alone opens the floodgates to ...

Re: Barry's Head Still in the Sand

May be too early to tell, although yes, Obama's response to the loss in the Senate of blistering the banks, again, and saying they're to blame for all our troubles is a little unsettling. It works fine in a campaign to go so populist, but you can't govern very effectively that way. Just hope this is...

Re: Rank the CAA QB's

Sure - by that rationale, Trent Dilfer was the best QB in the NFL when the Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2001. I mean, he won and by your logic, that made hime the best. Of course, that completely ignores the fact that there are 21 other players on the field (offense and defense) who combined have m...

Re: Charlie Manuel Watch Thread - 2010 Edition

No surprise that the Phils are skipping arbitration with these guys - the Phils hardly ever go that route. And really, other than Blanton, they weren't far apart with the other two anyway. Certainly think we'll hear Ruiz's new contract soon as well. Nice thing about the Blanton contract - the Phils ...

Re: Rank the CAA QB's

The most important stat for a quarterback is wins. Chris Whitney has started 30 games for Villanova in his career and his record is 25-5. None of his losses have come against a team ranked outside the top 15. I'd say a 25-5 quarterback with a national championship who was selected first team all co...

Re: Sen. Edwards Admits to Fathering Love Child

Edwards is douchebag royalty. Always has been, always will be. I take great pleasure in seeing his dismise. As to Elizabeth, those of us in NC know she is just as bad. I'm not going to sugar coat it because she, sadly, has cancer. She knew about his infedility during the campaign and chose to proce...

Re: Charlie Manuel Watch Thread - 2010 Edition

Nice job tying up Blanton for 3 years. He's always good for a lot of innings and he's certainly a legitimately quality #3 starter in this league. And yes, it's good that Blanton realized the error in the number they submitted for arbitration - he was never going to win an arbitration case asking for...

Re: Rank the CAA QB's

I go in this order: Devlin Whitney Toman Dudzik could be up there, but honestly, until he proves he can play in that offense and stay healthy I can't put him up there. I just see an Eric Lindros-type unlucky streak that he just can't stay healthy. As for the guys on the list, Devlin is the best pur...

Re: Nova 2010 Schedule

Is the Penn game a real home game (on campus) or is it at Franklin Field again with nova being called the home team? Kinda a tough schedule to build a following around. The first home game isn't until the middle of September, and then after those two games they're not home again until the latter par...

I had a blast last night watching the election coverage. In other words I'll watch Fox until a commercial comes up, then switch to MSNBC, then watch MSN...

Wow, no offense, but even if I had ESPNU, which I don't, I would have to be either a huge degenerate gambler or drunk, or both, to be sitting at home on a Friday night watching those two teams play each other. That's the type of game only people who go to those schools can get excited about.

Bring your cold weather gear up to Orono. That was one of the benefits of Maine-UNH in that last week, neither the Bears nor the Cats will mind 15 degrees with snow. Re: Poll: Americans Skeptical of Obama's Promises

Obama's biggest ray of hope was the chance to possibly change the way politics was being waged - the post-partisan idea. Unfortunately, he turned a lot of the priority staking over to a truly unpopular Congress, and there's been little to no change in politicking in Washington - heck, with the super...

Re: U.S. Weapons Inscribed With Secret 'Jesus' Bible Codes

It'd be interesting if they've always put the verse reference on their sights - sounds like they were doing this well before the US started buying from them. Some due diligence upfront by the US before giving them the contract 4 years ago would've been good.
