Re: Small plane crashes into Austin, TX office building
As far as the consumption tax, I don't know if that is the right answer or not, but I don't think there could be anything worse than what we have now, with 70k or whatever it is pages of Tax Code, several hundred billion a year in compliance costs of both individuals and businesses, well over 100k I...

Re: Small plane crashes into Austin, TX office building
I don't know - the other side of the aisle didn't acquit themselves well either back in the day over there. I seem to remember "caucuses" being set up so that people didn't have to have suffer the hardship of having people with different views chime in. Actually, that was a pretty good mi...

Re: JMU Dismisses RB Corwin Acker from Team
Is it too late for him to enroll at Liberty, and play in 2010? He did play pretty well there last year. :D With all the RBs we have this isn't a huge loss for the team, but I do hate it for him. Never good to see a young person squander a chance at a free education. Yep. Acker was basical...

Re: Tiger?
Apology accepted, Tiger! I would have liked it a lot better if he would have said, "to all the golfer's I play against, "you're welcome!"...now, you might have a chance to win a few tournaments while I'm getting my personal life together." After the apology, it was reported that...

Re: 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics Thread
1st time I've watched much of any winter Olympics since around 92'? (if Calgary was in 88' and the Olympics are held every 4 years and are being held in 2010 then something doesn't add up). Problems I see. Too many events. Read an article today that back in 88' was 46 Winter Olympic events and now a...

Don't answer. That was rhetorical.

Re: 49er Students Head to Football Vote
Congrats! I'm just wondering is there any chance that the state of NC could be reaching Div I football saturation? How many more teams can the state of NC support? You already have: 1. UNC 2. NC State 3. ECU 4. Wake 5. Duke 6. App State 7. Elon 8. Western Carolina 9. NC A&T 10. Gardner-Webb (out...

Re: NCAA to change NC game date if Frisco gets it
Why in the world would the NCAA keep the game in Chatty on Friday, the 7th in direct TV competition against the Cotton Bowl when it can move to a location that is at least as attractive and would result in the game being moved from the 7th? Unless of course they are willing to move the game to a di...

Re: W&M loses two projected starters
UR started 14 seniors to UMass's 12. Yeah, both lost a lot of talent. 7 of those 10 UMass seniors got All CAA honors ( 1st team Ducasse, Zardas, Cruz, and Miles), 2nd team Nelson at TB (who I believe was a 1st teamer in 08') plus a couple of DLs who were 2nd and 3rd team. So technically UMass might...

Re: W&M loses two projected starters
In terms of # of starters returning Towson, Maine and UD have the most. Next grouping would be Nova and JMU Next grouping would be W&M, UNH, UMass UR has the least. Not sure where URI falls. I actually thought UMass might have lost just as much as Richmond, and UMass obviously wasn't as good as...

Re: W&M loses two projected starters
Really? Why would anyone have had W&M as a preseason #1 over nova? nova was better than W&M last year and even before this returned much more than what W&M was returning. I think W&M is going to be pretty good this year, but a preseason #1 would be very optimistic to say the least. ...

Re: How come the NCAA doesn't enforce this?
Why enforce it? What is the NCAA (or these conferences) losing? If the conferences involved don't like splitting their TV money to these schools, they can take steps to kick them out, otherwise I don't think anyone really cares. Bingo. Then why have the membership requirements for I-A if they...

Re: How come the NCAA doesn't enforce this?
Arguing this is like trying to argue for FCS to have bowls. It won't happen and would be a horrible idea. On what grounds? All of those schools were I-A before this rule began as were the conferences they were in. By making a rule after the fact and all of a sudden changing the rule that they did N...

Because the WAC, CUSA, MAC, or any conf. won't drop a school and try to look for another one to fill the void in their conf. Re-do schedules etc... It's not a rule, NCAA might as well just take it off. We just talked about this on another thread today . Also Utah St. and New mexico St. are the top ...

I guess I'm on the other side of this topic. I hope nobody ever thinks LSU has to play Southern. I know one of the Southern board members suggested it once but it didn't go over well. LSU can spend their money on whoever they want. I don't even think Baton Rouge wants that matchup. xcoffeex Why not...

Besides both being private as others have stated, Penn and Bucknell aren't counters. The Ivy will probably never be. Patriot might, but they won't be counters unless they give out 57 schollies.SuperHornet wrote:What about mandating that Penn State include Penn and Bucknell in the rotation?

The NCAA implemented their 15k attendance requirement in 02' and claimed they were going to begin enforcing it in 04': Football Bowl Subdivision -- Membership Requirements 3. Average at least 15,000 in actual or paid attendance for all home football contests over a rolling two-year period. [Bylaw 20...

Re: W&M loses two projected starters
I know W&M was gonna be the pre-season #1 for a lot of people, how much could this change that? Were these guys all-conference types? As far as the pre season polls, who cares, they're for retards. In the CAA of 12 teams, usually 15 OL get CAA honors. Eh, make that now 10 teams for next season....

W&M loses two projected starters
http://flathatnews.com/blog/39/press-box/72622 Never good news to lose multiple projected starters. One according to the article was the 2 yr starting LT who'd started 25 games. I can sympathize, as last offseason season JMU lost 3 returning starters, plus a several from the 2 deep all for different...
