Re: Dirtiest FCS Rivalries?
I enjoy the classy racial slurs being tossed around by Delaware fans. Back when a couple of their players invaded the home of another player with a shotgun to steal his steroids, Keeler should have drug tested every player on the team right away. It was pretty obvious that abuse of performance-enhan...

Re: JMU's DJ Bryant - Class Guy Award, haha
Man, Delaware fans feel strongly about this incident. You would think Bryant armed himself with a shotgun and invaded the home of a teammate to steal his steroids...

Re: JMU AD: Move to FBS "very likely" in 18-24 months
Well, JMU could host Penn State and Notre Dame too if had an NFL stadium  I have no issue with playing the occasional big game at FedEx. We could essentially take the same approach that UMass plans to take once its on-campus stadium is expanded to 30k. Amherst-Foxboro and Harrisonburg-DC Area...

Re: JMU AD: Move to FBS "very likely" in 18-24 months
Have you ever been to the TiresAreMadeFromRubber.com bowl? I hear Detroit is lovely in mid-December...the normal "bleak" look is often described as "super-bleak" right before Christmas. I can't wait. Yes, I would rather go 13-0 to be rewarded with a game in a soccer stadium loca...

Re: JMU AD: Move to FBS "very likely" in 18-24 months
FCS related: Looks like some more spots will be opening up in the CAA in a couple years. What (if any) is the CAA exit fee? $250,000 for CAA football, but there is an exception if the "institution changes its football sub-divisional affiliation to the Bowl Subdivision." In that case, ther...

Re: JMU AD: Move to FBS "very likely" in 18-24 months
Arguments here aside, hosting Indiana and Syracuse and whatever small incremental increase you might get for bringing them in to play at your stadium once every 5 years is not enough to justify moving to 1A football. What fills the seats is a league where you can hate your rivals that you play once...

Re: JMU AD: Move to FBS "very likely" in 18-24 months
It would appear that scheduling Pittsburgh and Indiana is as easy as banging a chick from Towson on the first date. You got that **** right. DF, Maryland traveled to and lost to MTSU a few years ago. That couldn't have happened. Everyone knows that BCS teams would never travel to MAC or Sun B...

Re: JMU AD: Move to FBS "very likely" in 18-24 months
There are already three tiers in Division I football: BCS, non-BCS FBS, and FCS. We would move from tier 3 to tier 2. To me, the greatest benefit is the ability to schedule better OOC home games. Schools in the MAC, CUSA, etc. schedule home games with BCS teams on a fairly regular basis . They do? ...

Re: JMU AD: Move to FBS "very likely" in 18-24 months
Exactly...I'm not sure much would change, other than football costing more and no playoffs... Not a fan of this move. There are already three tiers in Division I football: BCS, non-BCS FBS, and FCS. JMU AD: Move to FBS "very likely" in 18-24 months

Re: CCSU @ JMU: Home opener for the new crown jewel of FCS!
Oh, don't worry, I'm sure we'll adopt the JMU method of counting anything that moves in the stadium as attendance. We're thinking about splitting up the stadium announcing by quarters - figure we can have 4 people do the announcements rather than just one. If we had one person in a concession stand...

Re: CAA proposal for five season's eligibility makes sense.
I support the idea. It would definitely help level the playing field a bit in FCS vs. FBS games. Assuming that scholarships are evenly distributed among classes and that all players red shirt, the average FCS program has 50 scholarship players (plus 13 redshirts), while the average FBS program as 68...

Re: WAC will play with 7
The WAC should add seven east coast schools as football-only members. JMU, ODU, Delaware, Ga State, Charlotte, App State, and one other school would work well. I know it sounds ridiculous, but... ok, it is kind of ridiculous. Still, the arrangement gives the WAC 14 football schools and a championshi...

Re: JMU Bridgeforth Stadium construction webcam
None of the money for JMU's athletic facilities comes from the state. In fact, public universities can't use tax revenue or tuition to fund athletic projects by state law. The money for JMU's projects comes primarily from bond issuance, with a portion coming from private fundraising. Bonds are paid ...

Re: The Charlotte 'Disturber' on UNCC Football - CAA, Anyone
Stupid question but can you please explain why App. State doesn't have a clear path to FBS? :? Not saying you're right or wrong just curious why you say that. As far as anyone knows, there's no CUSA invite on the table for App State. Their only other option right now is the Sun Belt, and it appears...

Re: The Charlotte 'Disturber' on UNCC Football - CAA, Anyone
Why? The core football members (GSU, ODU, JMU, UD, Towson, W&M) aren't going anywhere anytime soon, and the basketball schools have no reason to leave. Unless you're talking about the CAA expanding to 14 after adding Charlotte (Stony Brook, Coastal, Fordham?). I mean interesting from the perspe...

Re: The Charlotte 'Disturber' on UNCC Football - CAA, Anyone
I thought I heard the CAA already had. Maybe they've changed their minds? I've read nothing indicating that the CAA's leadership has changed their minds. Charlotte approached the CAA first, and was told all sports or nothing. Now that UNCC has been denied by both the SoCon and the Big South, I susp...

Re: JMU Lands top MD QB (2012)
This recruit can't run the offense JMU has used the past couple years - so is MM going to convert to more of a passing offense?? You could argue that our quarterbacks from the past two years couldn't really run the offense we have used for the past couple years. Hence the horrendous offensive produ...

Re: JMU Bridgeforth Stadium construction webcam
And why did they sink the press box into the upperdeck instead of building it on top like most stadiums? They would have been able to add more seats. The press boxes at most college stadiums don't really sit on top of the stands -- they sit behind the stands and are supported by a structure that ru...

Re: JMU Bridgeforth Stadium construction webcam
The design is actually very similar to that of Oregon State's Reser Stadium, which was completed a few years ago. Bridgeforth will be very similar to Reser, but obviously with a smaller "old side" and without the small seating area in front of the end zone facility. But the new sides and t...
