Re: Wrestling Dropped From 2020 Olympics

You can go to Flo Wrestling's website to sign the petition supporting the effort to keep wrestling an Olympic sport. In addition, there is a petition at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/user that seeks to have the Administration take steps to pressure the IOC. The rare occurence where the USA, Russi...

LEHIGH WRESTLING LANDS TOP RECRUIT

Mitchell Minotti, rising senior at Easton (PA) HS and defending AAA State Champion has verbally committed to Lehigh. Considered one of the top 2 in his 135lb weight class, Lehigh's archrival Cornell was the closest 'other' pursuer though Penn State, Okla.St., and Michigan were hunting as well. This ...

Re: Official 2011 Lacrosse Thread

Lehigh lost another tight one tonight, 12-11 to #12 Bucknell. Hawks can still make the PL Tournament with a win over arch-rival Lafayette or if Army and Colgate beat Navy and Lafayette. Hawks have not learned to win the close ones yet.

Re: Villanova will announce it will move its football progra

Huge mistake for 'nova. People never learn from history. How quickly they have forgotten the 1970's that led to football's dissolution. There is not enough support, i.e. attendance, nor facility. "Higher Education's" priorities are getting more warped all the time.

Lehigh lost a tough one at #8 Army, 12-9. Match was tied at 7-7 with about a minute to go in the 3rd quarter when Army exploded for 3 goals in 20 seconds. Lehigh closed to 11-9 with 3 minutes to go and pulled goalie. Open netter made the final score.

Re: NCAA Wrestling Selection Show

Don't know if you'll see Robles in the Paraolympic Games or any others. He said after the tournament that "this was it" as was beginning to get ready for life after college. Sounds like he's on the verge of getting an agent and will be on the inspirational talking circuit and eventually in...

Re: NCAA Wrestling Selection Show

Robles is an inspirational story. But, at the same time, he does have an advantage in certain respects as his opponents are trained to reach for legs/crotch that does not exist. So the opponent has to try and 'reprogram' his brain when opposing him. Robles has also built incredible upper body streng...

Re: NCAA Wrestling Selection Show

Sanderson did not come into State College facing an empty cupboard. PSU was already a Top Ten program. His presence has certainly effected the recruiting landscape as some PA wrestlers who would have gone to the midwest, are now staying home. Taylor, though from Ohio, was going wherever Sanderson wa...

Tough end to road trip for Lehigh. Loss earlier in week at #13 Ohio State, 11-7 and then a loss at #18 Yale on Saturday, 10-6, after being down only 3-2 at halftime. Lehigh now 3-3 on year and 1-0 in Patriot. Takes on Presbyterian at home next Saturday.

Re: NCAA Wrestling Selection Show

Lehigh got two wrestlers seeded in the top two of their respective weight classes for the first time since 2004. Rey received the top seed at 285 lbs and Robert Hamlin aka "The Vermonster" received a #2 seed at 184 lbs. Hatchett received an at-large bid at 165 giving Lehigh 8 qualifiers. S...

NCAA Wrestling Selection Show

Wednesday, March 9 at 6 p.m. EST, the NCAA will air its selection of NCAA D-I qualifiers for the Championship Tournament that starts Thursday, March17 in Philadelphia. Amazing that there is now a 'show' for this, but considering everyone seems to have a show these days, like the Kardashians, it was ...

Re: EIWA Tournament Underway as Big Red surges

Yes, at tech fall in the first period is very rare. I attended all sessions of the EIWA at Bucknell. Great little facility (4,000 cap) and good sight lines from any location. Lehigh finds out tonight if Hatchett gets a bid to Nationals. If so, that would give us 8 qualifiers, although there is conce...

Re: EIWA Tournament Underway as Big Red surges

Cornell dominated as expected with 6 finalists and scoring 173 points to second place Lehigh's 119. Robert Hamlin was Lehigh's sole EIWA champ at 184 as Zach Rey was 'upset' at 285 by the #2 seed (and #3 ranked nationally, Flores) in a wild 4-2 decision in overtime tie breaker. It was Rey's first lo...

EIWA Tournament Underway as Big Red surges

Cornell appears to have the team title locked up after the first two sessions completed this evening. Cornell, Lehigh and Rutgers all had 7 semi-finalists and 3 in consolations heading into the second session. However, Lehigh suffered two late upsets at 141 and 165 as well as two other losses to hig...

LEHIGH FINISHES DUAL SEASON RANKED #8; EIWA SOARS.

For the third year in row the Mountain Hawks have finished in the top 8 in the last coaches' poll. Only Iowa and Cornell have also finished in the top 8 during the same time span. Lehigh started the season with a pre-season ranking of #15 and have consistently improved with only one senior on the te...

Awesome! You going to the national championships? Oh, yeah! You? This will be my seventh straight 'nationals'. Having them in Philly will have a huge Lehigh contingent. In fact, Lehigh can't find enough tickets for its fans based upon the allocations. I am also surprised that Penn and/or Drexel are...

LEHIGH SMASHES PENN, 35-4

Saturday afternoon in a packed Grace Hall, Lehigh took 9 of 10 bouts from Penn to hand the Quakers one of their worst losses to Lehigh in 20 years. HIghlights were Freshman Cagnina at 133 beating #5 Peterkin and #11 Kennedy at 197 beating #4 Burak, with a beautiful lateral drop takedown. EIWA tourna...

Re: #17 LEHIGH STUNS #1 CORNELL IN WRESTLING, 17-15!

It was the 20th time in school history that Lehigh had faced a #1 team, but the first time they won. There is tremendous parity in the country this year. Penn State will likely be new #1 and, yes, Sanderson will certainly recruit his share of studs, but they can't all go to the Nits. This could be t...
