Re: UMass to FBS? Next year?

I'm not so sure that the CAA is automatically better than the MAC. I mostly follow the FBS just to be clear, but I think the two conferences are about even, if only because the MAC has access to more recruiting opportunities. I'd probably give the CAA an edge this year, but I don't see how it's a gi...

Re: FCS 2009 Football Simulation

That is really freaking awesome. I was just tinkering around with it and 2007 Michigan beat 2007 Appalachian State!

Apparently, the 2009 version of Arkansas Pine-Bluff would turn the ball over 9 times against the 2005 USC Trojans, too :o

Re: Cleveland State to add FCS Football?

I agree with what's already been said about Cleveland State and Ohio. There are just too many teams. The MAC, particularly the MAC East, is dreadful because of the lack of concentration of talent. Kent State, Bowling Green, Ohio, Akron, and Miami OH dilute the talent pool for any one MAC team to rea...

I was kind of wondering this myself. I saw the score on ESPNU and was pretty shocked since Princeton got dominated by Columbia a couple weeks ago.

Re: CAA 4 - FBS 4

Does anybody think Hofstra can actually beat Western Michigan? I'm a little scared right now. Western Michigan is actually my #1 team ahead of MIchigan (for school pride purposes). I should be at that game in October but with the eggs they just laid against Indiana and Michigan, I wouldn't be surpri...

Re: Weber-CSU Game Thread

I didn't get to see this game, but from the sound of it, Weber State played better this week than they did against Wyoming in Week 1. Colorado State should wind up being a better team than the Cowboys. We should remember that CSU beat Sacramento State last year by a FG, but I don't think it really t...

Re: Southern Oregon (NAIA) at Portland State

I may be ignorant, but how do you guys think the NAIA stacks up against D2 or D3? I just remember one year that St. Francis from Indiana beat Indiana State 42-0. Of course, the Sycamores are hardly representative of the FCS, so you know :D

Yeah, I guess New Hampshire has had a lot of success against the FBS. I was looking at your banner and I was reminded how many FBS teams UNH has defeated. Congrats! :thumb:

Re: Week 1 FCS Point Spreads

Georgia Tech beat Jacksonville State by fewer than 30 points last season and beat Gardner-Webb by 3. I might take Jax State and the points. I'd also give Alcorn a shot to cover along with and I'm taking Duke at 2.5.

Re: TOP 5 FBS TEAMS, THAT SHOULD BE PLACED IN FCS

Why is that funny? :? Last time I checked, North Dakota State whipped the 2006 MAC champions. They have some potential as a program, but it's not like I'm familiar with their athletic budget though. It's a little too early to judge Florida International. They actually had a good season in 2008 by t...

Re: TOP 5 FBS TEAMS, THAT SHOULD BE PLACED IN FCS

Well, if I'm making a list of 5, it'd probably look like this: 1. Idaho 2. UL Monroe 3. Kent State 4. New Mexico State 5. Eastern Michigan Perhaps you could add Utah State, UAB, or maybe even UL Lafayette to that list. I think you can make an economic case for Temple, but I'm one of the Owl's bigge...

Re: High School vs. Bad College Teams

I don't think a high school team would win because as others have said depth and maturity. But I wouldn't say the guy was wrong about the bolded statement, the level of play in Florida is very high, on an equal level. (High school against High school). The talent some the smaller schools have here ...

Re: High School vs. Bad College Teams

I certainly think Idaho could contend for a playoff spot if they were in the FCS. I don't think they're as good as teams like Montana, App State, or Richmond though. You hit the nail on the head: Men vs. Kids. If you're talking D2, I might grant you that, conditionally, considering most of their rec...

Re: Obamacare hoping to influence High Holiday sermons

I don't think anything Bush did here is really relevant. Politicians have used religion and "family values" for years now (that includes Mark Sanford and John Edwards). What do you think the war on drugs is all about? Or banning gambling, prostitution, gay marriage, etc.? Obama is doing wh...

Re: Income Up 17.5% Since 2000, Health Ins. Up 95%..

The issues in housing and health care can easily be traced by government regulation. No company that I know of can go bankrupt and run away with a profit--Unless they know beforehand that the government will bail them out. The Congress passed laws that in effect made companies go along with giving o...

Re: Look I made some douche's blog......

I'm a MAC fan and can say for a certainty that this is not going to be your usual Temple football team. They're my pick to win the MAC East and I do happen to give them a 9-3 record this year. The MAC East is the MAC East though and Villanova could easily compete if they managed to play in that divi...

Re: High School vs. Bad College Teams

It's no different than the idiots who think Texas, Florida, or USC could beat the Detroit Lions. There's just too much difference in skill, size, and strength. So no, it's not you. I think it would be closer to reality if we're talking about bad Division II, Division III, or NAIA teams. I think Gra...

High School vs. Bad College Teams

So I'm on another board with somebody who follows a school in Florida closely (mainly discussing Lincoln High School and Thomas Aquinas). He claims that these schools, which put players in major FBS programs like Florida State, Stanford, Florida, Miami, etc. routinely would be able to make a really ...

Re: Anybody else Hear Cowherd Dissing FCS Football Today?

The issue I have with Cowherd and PTI (even though that show is alright) is that they are so far stretched as sports reporters that they're not always clued in. I'm not a huge NBA fan, but when I follow the NHL, NFL, MLB, or college sports and Kornheiser pulls a, "I didn't know he was still in ...
