So what caused the Antarctic ice sheet to melt rapidly approximately 8000 years ago and what where the devastating results of that event?

A recent theory is a meteor strike in Canada that flash melted much of the ice. The worldwide climate was affected including the Missoula mega floods and rain mark evidence from the sphinx in Egypt that suggested biblical type rains.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 8:05 am So what caused the Antarctic ice sheet to melt rapidly approximately 8000 years ago and what where the devastating results of that event?
It’s just one theory and that was during the Younger Drias period which was full of climate and weather related anomalies compared with today.

This article doesn’t mention any of that and the dates are 4000 years off, but I know… they don’t really know when the meteor hit, maybe another meteor they don’t know about yet

Ok thanks
Why were the scientist talking about coming of the next Ice Age in the 1970s?
What is the ratio between human causes of global warming and the natural process of global warming that has been a continuos cycle over millions and millions of years?
Basically, how long did it take for the earth to heat up 125,000 years ago or 800 million years ago?
Its called "science" CH. One of the rules is that when the facts show things are different than you thought, you change your thinking, not the facts. This seems to be a constant struggle for your side to understand.... 'cause you don't need no egg head academics telling you 'bout their lifes research when you got Tucker Carlson.
Are you actually claiming that “science” wasn’t touting the next big ice age in the late Seventies

My 1975 'Cooling World' Story Doesn't Make Today's Climate Scientists Wrong
That's an excerpt from a story I wrote about climate science that appeared almost 40 years ago. Titled "The Cooling World," it was remarkably popular; in fact it might be the only decades-old magazine story about science ever carried onto the set of a late-night TV talk show. Now, as the author of that story, after decades of scientific advances, let me say this: while the hypotheses described in that original story seemed right at the time, climate scientists now know that they were seriously incomplete. Our climate is warming -- not cooling, as the original story suggested.
Nevertheless, certain websites and individuals that dispute, disparage and deny the science that shows that humans are causing the Earth to warm continue to quote my article. Their message: how can we believe climatologists who tell us that the Earth's atmosphere is warming when their colleagues asserted that it's actually cooling?

Yes there was, I remember it. You likely don't or were too young to understand. It mostly about "nuclear winter" and it was speculation about stuff like how many volcanoes worth of ash and gasses a nuclear war would put into the atmosphere and what that would do to the climate and was never presented as settled science.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 3:02 pmWell, if it was a hoax, it was created out of something because there was talk in the late 70s of the coming Ice Age…UNI88 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 2:10 pm

Well, so far, I’ve reached at least one opinion on climate change
The 97% Percent of scientists agree is a bogus number put out to create a narrative
Actually, I think they should change the number to say 65% that way It wouldn’t sound like such a con job
The scientist that think they understand climate change really don’t understand everything… nobody does!

Science is supposed to be questioned. The best data is observable but methodologies can also be questioned. Predictions are the tricky part but the predominant evidence is that the climate is changing and recent increases in world wide temps, severity of storms, droughts, etc. strongly suggest that humans aren’t gonna like these changes.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 3:42 am Well, so far, I’ve reached at least one opinion on climate change

Forget the 97%. A similar percentage of skeptics can be easily traced through funding to orgs and businesses who’s products and services are threatened by global warming.

Pick the other metric (%) and one sees COVID was only slightly worse than a bad cold and flu season with age being the biggest factor in deaths, so the vast majority were not at risk.
Lockdowns don't work for a respiratory pandemic. That's been documented for years. Maybe if the people you supported had applied focused protection to the elderly instead of bringing COVID into their nursing homes, we'd have seen that level of care you want to see. This was all over a metric and you were a medical fascist.
That was one hell of a 2 year flu season and why do you hate grandma?
Lockdowns work. People ignoring lockdowns and vaccines works less effectively.
Do you send your kids to school with the flu? Are they unvaccinated?

I am curious how you apply "focused protection to the elderly instead of bringing COVID into their nursing homes". Does that mean that nursing home employees have to be quarantined and can't stay with or see friends and family? If they can, are they quarantining nursing home employees plus the friends and family? Where does it stop? Or would it be a nursing home version of Lord of the Flies where no outsiders are allowed to enter and they have to take care of themselves? Inquiring minds want to know the details of how this solution that appears simple but really isn't would work.
