Spokane is surrounded by large lakes, five ski areas, mountains and rivers, and outdoor recreation has always been a draw. It also has a lively nightlife and literary scene and lots of new upscale dining choices.

National Geographic Traveler magazine recently named Spokane one of 29 “Cities on the Rise,” noting the region is “hipster friendly” and “caffeinated.” Spokane has shown up on numerous other rankings of cool cities in recent years.

“Hipster friendly”. Not even sure what that means, but it doesn’t sound good.

So people drink more caffeineated beverages there than is typical..that is a weird description..Must be a west coast thing.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/12/politics ... index.html
A Florida state house candidate's college degree has been called into question -- by the very university that she claimed to have graduated from.

Melissa Howard, a Republican who is running for the Florida House of Representatives District 73, claimed to have graduated from Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio.
But last week, FLA News reported that Howard didn't have a college degree from Miami University.

The university also pointed out a few critical flaws on the image of the diploma that Howard had briefly posted on social media.
The image showed that she received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing degree, but the university said, "We have no such record of a degree." That's because the university says its degree for marketing majors, both then and now, is called a Bachelor of Science in Business.
Also, Howard's major while she was enrolled at Miami University had been retailing, and the degree for that program would have been a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences, according to the university.
The picture of the diploma included the signatures of James Garland, who was the president of the university in 1996, and of Robert C. Johnson, who was actually the dean of the graduate school, which would not have been the proper school, the university statement said.
I'm sure it's fake news. Facts be damned!

North Dakota Marijuana Legalization Measure Qualifies For November Ballot

Link

Activists collected a sufficient number of signatures to qualify a ballot measure that would allow adults over 21 to use and grow marijuana, the secretary of state’s office determined on Monday.

Unlike legalization measures approved in a number of other states, the North Dakota proposal would set no limit on how much cannabis people could possess or cultivate. It would also allow a system of legal marijuana production and sales.

So all you have to do is pull this out here and rearrange this here and wait a minute for it to boot and then figure out how to navigate the interface and then you're done!

Yup, no one will get caught doing that!

Possible vs Probable. :coffee: The point is that it can be done, and if you're in a state that has a curtain or something shielding you, then it becomes more probable.

But is it worth the effort to hack 1 machine? To have any effect, you're better off to hack the system loads the ballots onto the cartridges and/or smart cards. And honestly, that's probably easier to do.

I'm still wondering why folks were adamant on here that prior elections there never could've been nor was there any chance of hacking or vote fraud, but now we're coming out of the woodwork with how fragile our election system is and how easy it is to falsify votes.

I could take a lighter and a small can of WD-40 and torch a pile of paper ballots. It's fine to talk about having more security at the precinct to make sure the machines aren't tampered with, but let's no pretend like some 15-year-old 100 miles from the precinct can alter votes.

I don't know... there are some incredible hackers out there that just have to hack the location that updates the cards.

Or in the case of some machines, insert a USB drive and let the virus do it's dirty work.

Vote early and vote often. :thumb:

I think the potential for hacking is very real...but hacking the actual machine improbable, IMHO. To add to that, to have any real effect on an election, it's highly improbable. You're better off hacking the SW before it leaves a distro unit and/or hacking the cartridges/smart cards that load the ballot.

If you haven't realized that I like to play devils advocate, then you aren't paying attention. :geek:

And no, I'm hardly a hipster. Millennial - yes. But I don't identify with them. I grew up with Gen Xers. I like seeing you getting your BP up over people that live differently than you.

I wish the video of them being stabbed to death could be shown to the average American
These lovely harmless kids in their bright clothing and happy attitudes
riding their bikes for peace and love
literally as harmless as children

Every social justice community organizer needs a good long review of this scenario as well
For all the people that think that "Islam is just like every religion"

Which is as dumb a statement as every sport (replace sport with Religion) is the same
MMA and boxing as well as badminton and bowling all fall under "sports"

They aren't the same
not even remotely "the same" and this needs to be a GLOBAL UPDATE for the world
even if it hurts peoples feelings that we're singling out a group

The world needs to wake the fuck up
