I just clicked to keep the Rihanna picture at the top. I’d plow her well into football season.

What's funny is people will have such a negative visceral reaction to creationism but give credence to this.

I'm sure if life evolved on another world they'd just happen to have the same DNA, the same lipids, the same mitochondria, the same basic glucose-based respiration and all the same cellular machinery that animals on Earth do.

But this theory doesn't blaspheme the church of scientific materialism I guess, so it gets more of a pass.

Just weeks after Charlotte councilwoman LaWana Mayfield ignited controversy for supporting a 9/11 conspiracy theory, she is on the defense for a tweet likening law enforcement officers to terrorists.

That tweet, sent March 26, said: “Being Black in America under #45 (Donald Trump) has created homegrown terrorist wearing blue uniforms.”

She expanded on her argument Thursday with a follow-up tweet alluding to police "corruption."

"I have and continue to be one of the strongest supporters of law enforcement," she tweeted, "but I will NOT turn a blind eye to corruption, assaults, and the killings of unarmed black & brown people. If you are offended by my comments and not the situation YOU need to re-evaluate."

This movie will rustle some Southron jimmies when it comes out.
Steven Spielberg and Leonardo DiCaprio are in early talks to collaborate on a Ulysses S. Grant biopic at Lionsgate.

There’s no deal in place for Spielberg to direct, and Lionsgate had no comment on the report. The Grant project was set up last year at Lionsgate with DiCaprio and Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson producing a movie version of the Ron Chernow’s 2017 biography “Grant.”

Grant has been widely recognized as a superior military tactician for leading the Union Army to victory over the Confederacy during the Civil War under the supervision of President Abraham Lincoln, winning key battles at Shiloh and Vicksburg. He won two terms as President as a successor to Andrew Johnson and stabilized the economy along with attempting to remove the last vestiges of slavery, which included working to crush the Ku Klux Klan. David James Kelly is adapting the biography.

Meh.

That kind of thing happens daily with most cops- thousands of times a day in the US

I laughed when he asked the woman if she wanted him to call her an ambulance - because I used to do exactly the same thing when I had someone who was turning on the melodrama/hyperventilation scam

That's a good way to call someone out on their BS without stooping to their level

I think the ones that get in an uproar are those "Lost Cause" losers that have no historical concept of the Civil War, it's participants or what life was actually like in the Confederacy. I've said it too many times to count - the CSA was more tyrannical than the USA. Granted - it existed solely during war time, but we learned long ago that confederacies aren't the best method of "unionizing" a group of states.

Having said that - I've always thought Grant and Sherman were the perfect men for their jobs. I've started Chernow's Grant and hope this movie gets a good production. Lincoln was a snooze-fest.

On that note, when is this movie about Bunker Hill (I think Ben Afflek is to direct?) going to get produced? I've been waiting on that one for a few years now.

Meanwhile, In The Heights will be made into a movie soon, so I suspect in several years we'll see

Cougar chases. The bikers stop to challenge and make noise (what you’re supposed to do with cougars). Cougar rag dolls one by the head. The second guy runs for it and the cougar takes him down and kills him.

Please tell me you’re not an Episcopalian.

Otherwise, I shall have to abandon my cradle and credal faith in despair.

At the very least, you should embrace your husband’s Russian Orthodox heritage.

Episcopalian from the cradle. :thumb:

From a long line of Alabama Episcopalians. Grandfather was a rector in downtown Birmingham and took in the bloodied and battered during Bull Connor's rampages. :notworthy:

And, don't worry - you wouldn't be the first snowflake to leave for weak reasons. I'm sure the ACNA would love to have you.

I do split time between an Antiochian Orthodox Church and Episcopalian nowadays. I prefer a traditional liturgy and progressive theology - so, the Episcopal church is just right for me - but, I do love the Eastern liturgy and chanting... just not about to convert.
