You quite literally couldn't give me a Toyota truck
I love my 2005 Tundra. After I put a few hundred thousand more miles on it, I'll give it to you.
Every truck I've ever owned had hundreds of thousands of miles on them...
This is nothing new to American truck owners

However the communists sympathizers among us that purchase Toyota trucks probably didn't know that

So, let’s ban all cars from major cities...that will prevent incidents like this from happening...
You can’t stop crazy. But you can reduce the number of people allowed to drive their 4,000 pound machines into city parks, along city beaches, past playgrounds, and alongside the sidewalks of the most pedestrian-packed places in the nation. If we banned cars from every city in the US tomorrow, we would stop vehicular terrorism overnight — and save thousands of lives.

Maybe banning cars from a portion of a mega-opolis like New York could be something, but that's such a small, tiny tip of the iceberg. Has this person not been to, I don't know, anywhere? There are tens of thousands of places, possibly hundreds of thousands or millions, of places in the US where you have cars that run near pedestrians. Even in New York, you could ban cars from the southern tip of Manhattan, but you would still have all the other boroughs where it's teeming with people and cars. It's a nice thought, but it lacks any reality.

Looking at 2016 models when I bought my Tundra, built in TX with about 70% North American parts- tied with Ford for the most American 1/2 ton. I probably would have gone with the F150 if not for the aluminum body. Now I could have bought a GM half ton- made in Mexico with about 40% North American parts..

Driving a 2017 with the aluminum body now. No issues with it. Decent mileage for a truck.

My uncle runs a civil engineering firm in NC and they lease their fleet.

They were with Ford for years, but after Ford went with the aluminum beds they started having lots of problems with warping and denting under stress.

Now they have switched to Dodge as a result

Except that already got debunked by pretty much every test group that studied the beds...

Had a Dodge W100 with a factory 440 for years. You want to take out bicyclists thats your truck.

Driving an '03 GMC 1/2 ton right now. I figure since I was born and raised in CA and CA used to be part of Mexico my patriotic cred remains intact.

The aluminum doesn't worry me but the cost of body shop work for the next couple of years would. Assuming I cared little enough about public opinion to be seen in public in a Ford.

That's all fine and good - I don't have one now so I don't know myself

But I'm talking about the anecdotal experience of a guy who runs a motorpool of about 50 of them. And their own experiences with Ford over warranty issues and being told they were too rough on their trucks that drove them to Dodge are real

Dodge might not be any better, but all studies aside, they thought their late model Fords weren't holding up like the older ones did

That's called Net Neutrality ^ right there
But What if Ford controlled all Truck Sales and decided for you what you were allowed to buy

Like I said, I don't know what you are talking about - so you'll have to be more direct than the klam cryptic questioning

The customer had trucks that weren't taking abuse the way they thought they did before. They tried the warranty approach (which in this case would have been tantamount to asking to exchange the vehicles) and were told nope. So they took their business elsewhere.

Maybe they were incorrect and the trucks werent responding to abuse any differently than before - but what I described actually happened - a large CE firm wasn't happy with the trucks and they switched

At a JMU game back in Sept parked across from a guy who had a new (2016 or 2017, don’t remember exactly) F150. We got to talking about our trucks. One of the main reasons he said he got his was for tailgating with his family. Bought a bunch of JMU magnets after he bought the truck. Tried to put the magnets on the truck. Said they fell right off. Wouldn’t stick to the aluminum..

Interesting that they are called trucks by city folks and pickups by farmers.
