New Big Sky Tourney Site in 2019?
Big Sky Conference to consider new basketball tournament venue for 2019
http://www.standard.net/Basketball/2017 ... -reno.html
Personally I think the Big Sky should just go back to the way it was before, but if the Conference is dead set on a "neutral site" then my vote is for Salt Lake City, it is on average the closest venue to every Big Sky school and is the one of two potential sites where a member of the conference wouldn't have to travel over 1,000 miles to get to. The other is Boise.
A list of potential host cities
City - Total amount of miles from each School - average travel for each school
Salt Lake City UT - 5,182 - 471
Boise ID - 5,330 - 484
Spokane WA - 6,369 - 579
Billings MT - 6,879 - 625
Reno NV - 7,575 - 688
Denver CO - 8,673 - 788
Phoenix AZ - 9,864 - 896

This doesn't sound like a serious attempt to move the tournament. It's probably just the Big Sky seeing if some city is willing to throw even more money at the league than Reno was.

I really think that the Conference should move the tourney at least to a state that actually has a Big Sky presence.Mvemjsunpx wrote:This doesn't sound like a serious attempt to move the tournament. All the more reason not to go to Spokanekalm wrote:Spokane.

I would take Spokane over Reno, only because it's in a state with a Big Sky presence. But I'd still prefer SLC or Boise, they are both on average closer to all the Big Sky Schools.

The procuring of meth requires a lot of blowing… or so I'm told.kalm wrote:* methGrizFanStuckInUtah wrote:

I hereby nominate Stockton. It's hosting a NCAA Regional this year and there's a pretty good carrying capacity at the Arena, as shown by the AAA hockey team there.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

This...I'll even let the kalm presence carry some weight.kalm wrote:Spokane.

With the commish being from a big time conference, we can kiss ever going back to the old way good-bye...and that is a good thing.

Why? Is it because of Sac's chances of hosting?

Nope. If the goal is to make the BSCT notable to folks outside of the conference, you do that by building around a location and marketing the hell out of it. I couldn't make it this year (had a blast last year), but that is a trip I plan on making regularly in the future and I expect the experience to get better every year.Wildcat Ryan wrote:SDHornet wrote: This...I'll even let the kalm presence carry some weight.
