Again...Great Britain and England aren't the same thing. England is in the WC, not Great Britain nor the UK (see what I did there?.)
St. George's Cross - Flag of England.
Union Jack - Flag of UK
So - the English are waving their flag. Does that make sense?
I know they aren't the same. But saying they aren't the same doesn't answer why they don't do the same thing for both the Olympics & the World Cup.
Pay attention....read this out loud and slowly: England is in the World Cup- therefore the ST. George’s Cross. Great Britain competes in the Olympics, therefore the Union Jack.
That's a good explanation. It describes Great Britain as England/Scotland/Wales. It says Northern Ireland is not part of Great Britain. Yet during the Olympics Northern Ireland competes with England/Scotland/Wales and you always hear the UK team referred to as Great Britain which doesn't make any sense, since it includes Northern Ireland. It would make sense if it was referred to as the UK team..
I see the problem.
Google “British Olympic Organization.” That is the governing body for Team Great Britain - to include Northern Ireland.

Ok, but why are they not doing the the same for the Olympics. Give the athletes the opportunity to compete for their 4 respective countries? Would give up to 4x as many athletes the opportunity to compete..
Again, read the early history of soccer if you are genuinely interested in this question. No one is going to type it out for you. It's not analogous to the Olympics.
That link explains why the soccer competes as 4 different countries. Doesn't says why the Olympics doesn't. But nevermind.

Pay attention, you're telling me something I already acknowledged. That doesn't answer the why..

Ok. BDK. Try to follow along.
You understand why soccer competes as 4 nations now. Does the British Olympic Team share that same history? No?

You don’t understand why Great Britain <> England? Or you don’t understand why they compete as Great Britain in the Olympics but separately in the World Cup?

If they're going to compete separately in soccer, then why not the English Olympic team, Scottish Olympic team, Welsh Olympic team , N Ireland Olympic team? If all 4 are big enough to compete internationally in soccer, they could certainly send athletes to the Olympics & give their athletes the opportunity to compete under their won county's flag. Lots of small population countries do. If you ask someone from any of the 4 their nationality, I doubt you'll hear "I'm Great British". Don't people from Scotland say they're "Scottish" and peoples from Wales say they're "Welsh"?

Hey, Grandpa, let's stop yelling at the squirrels. Ok?
Mbappe is a stud. Heck, there's already talk that he's going to replace Ronaldo at Real Madrid. And he's only 19. Might already know who the best player for the next decade will be and he's playing for France.
