Allison and Kulwicki in with a bit of a halo-effect due to their untimely deaths. I'm not saying they're undeserving, but there are other worthy folks. The five inductees a year cap has to go. Flaggy and I discussed this earlier this week by phone.
Buddy Baker, Tim Richmond, Harry Gant, Benny Parsons, Ricky Rudd, Ernie Irvan, Neil Bonnett, Geoff Bodine, AJ Foyt, Joe Gibbs, Smoky Yunick, Kirk Shelmerdine, Chris Economaki, Eli Gold, and Barney Hall should all be in already.

Crash Verstappen does it again. While leading final practice, he crashes with 8 minutes and change left. Team can't get car repaired in time for qualifying, so he goes from first to worst.

Also, your times are off a couple of hours each way on the first two races. Also also, I just realized that Monaco is on ESPN now instead of ABC.

Well, it might have helped if I had been looking at the right year. I searched "memorial day weekend racing" and this was the 1st link to pop up.93henfan wrote:http://www.championshipsubdivision.com/ ... 5#p1187203BDKJMU wrote:Biggest racing weekend of the year. Sunday, (ECB time):

Speaking of crashes...
Just the same as she ended her very first IRL race at Homestead in 2005 and countless dozens (perhaps hundreds) of open-wheel and NASCAR races in between, Danica's last race ends with yet another crash:

Re: 2018 NASCAR/INDYCAR/F1
Kyle Busch dominates the 600, wins all 4 stages, leading 377 of 400 laps, winning at the last track he hadn’t won a Cup points race at, becoming the 1st driver ever to win Cup points races at every Cup track. Was reminiscent of the Coke 600 2 years ago, when Truex swept every stage, leading 392 of 400 laps. Truex finished second for the 2nd (points) race in a row, close to 4 seconds behind. Hamlin was in 3rd over 13 seconds behind. Only 9 cars finished on the lead lap.
Harvick failed to qualify due to failing to pass inspection and had to start 40th. By lap 83 he was already up to 4th when he slammed the wall with a flat tire and was done for the day. Otherwise he may very well have challenged Busch. Was reminiscent of Autoclub in March when Harvick had a dominant car but wrecked early, and Truex swept every stage in winning the race.
Truex’s car by the 2nd half of the race was probably as good as Busch’s. Had a pit road a speeding penalty at the end of stage 2 that dropped him from 2nd to 17th. Next pit stop shortly after had an uncontrolled tire penalty that dropped him from 15th to 24. Worked his way back to 2nd then final stage last pit stop was 3+ seconds slower than Busch’s, dropping Truex from 2nd to 7th. Worked his way back up to finish 2nd.
Truex’s pit crew is provided by JGR. Only 2 of the same over the wall guys from last year’s championship season. His pit crew hasn’t been as good as last year, and has cost him potential wins in at least 2 races. After what happened last year I’m thinking JGR is providing Furniture Row with their 5th best pit crew...

The crash happened before I got back from church, so I was going nuts at seeing Danica listed in 30th place until someone showed a replay. It looked like someone hit her from behind, but the footage wasn't good enough to quite show who.

Did you not even watch the video I posted? Nobody was near her. She’s just a talentless driver who made a career because she was female. That’s the worst sort of “validation” for women in sport: to be tolerated for a few years in the name of diversity.SuperHornet wrote:The crash happened before I got back from church, so I was going nuts at seeing Danica listed in 30th place until someone showed a replay. Re: 2018 NASCAR/INDYCAR/F1
I didn't think the crash in Indy this year, by itself, was indicative of her being a bad driver. They had talked all race up to that point about how loose the tires were this year, especially 20-30 laps in on the tires, and another driver about 10 laps before her had the same exact crash - no one was near him, he entered the turn, and the back end of the car just got loose.93henfan wrote:Did you not even watch the video I posted? Now, with that said, one race is one race - she has a wealth of races where she had other crashes, so all taken together, yes, she was a menace out there.

Here's a YT vid they released on the same story. Doesn't really cover any new ground over what we've discussed ad nauseam here, but pretty good work for CNBC (other than calling Vegas a "superspeedway" and saying the COT was "a lot less noisy" - lolwtf). The thumbnail of abandoned N Wilkesboro never ceases to be a painful image for a long-time fan. If the new buyers really want to come in guns a'blazin, they will put Rockingham and N Wilkesboro dates on the earliest possible schedule, cost be damned in the short-term:CAA Flagship wrote:https://www.cnbc.com/2018/05/27/nascar- ... ewers.html
