Twins continue to build for the future by sending Ryan Pressly to Houston for prospects Jorge Alcala and Gilberto Celestino.

Which means trades probably will not happen. This year it seems like most contenders are making deals for the stretch run so it isn’t like the Yankees are the only ones making moves. AJ Happ is not going to take them to the promised land.
I just feel like teams should have to live with their rosters...
and that razor blade cuts two ways
Rich teams would have a harder time making late season deals
and the other teams wouldn't be able to just salary dump at the first sign of trouble

Teams would be forced to live with their off season moves
real life accountability
Understand that desperation trades can be good for bottom teams, just like the inverse draft order.
The ability to unload a player before free agency hits and be able to get something of quality in return is similar to a high draft pick. The later in the season, the more desperate the teams are to make the deal.

Ian Kinsler to the Red Sox. Nice move by Boston, but they had to give up a couple of promising relievers in the process.

Best night for the Nats in a little while. Picked up 0.5 game by not playing. Maybe if they can just cancel the rest of their games they can catch the Phils. :ohno:

Not a good week for the Phils. They're young and inconsistent. Probably a year away from the playoffs. Plenty of time for Nats to overtake both PHL and ATL.

Fills their one real weak spot, what with Dustin Pedroia out basically for the season...

Otherwise, I think the Sox remain the strongest team (or at least equal to Houston) in baseball...

And, you’re welcomed Nats fans...

The Nats need to learn to spread out their run production a little more. ;)

I had the same thought a week or two ago when the Phils hit the high teens in a game.

Red Sox open up a 6.5 game lead over New York by crushing the Yankees at Fenway tonight ...

76 wins so far...no other team is in the 70’s...

That game turned around in a hurry. The Sawx could do no wrong offensively or defensively.

As far as defensive talent, no team is withing spitting distance of the Red Sox...
They steal more hits and take more runs off the board than anybody

it can't be measure in "errors" or double plays or traditional defensive stats

Bradley and Betts certainly lead the pack in that category. Way above average defensively. Fucking Kinsler made friends with his new teammates and fans last night. They finally found someone to take the place of Pedroia at 2B this season.
Devers is below average. Benintendi is average. Not sure about Martinez and Bogaerts.

Not a huge Sox fan, but a big Yankee hater. Loved the pitching line on Holder!

I, of course, watched the game...yea MLB At Bat...

After the pitch that led to the scoring of the 6th run in the 4th, the NESN camera caught the face of the Yankees catcher as he came out of his crouch and took off his mask for a play...it was a look of pure disgust...said everything you needed to know about that one inning from the Bummers perspective...

Rick Porcello pitches a one-hitter complete game...only threw 86 pitches...

Extend their lead over the Yankees to 7.5 games...win #77...

Yeah Yeah. Bite Me.

The most remarkable stat line from that game was:

Game Time: 2:15

Yankees-Red Sox almost always go 4+ hours.

Today's Game Time: 2:33

That's a lot of sober Sox Fans.

Two well pitched games in a row...how about that... :kisswink:

Now 8.5 game lead over the Yankees...

The Red Sox played an uncharacteristically sloppy game last night
(and found a way to win)
