Rare Happenings in Sports
Just noticed something I have not seen before and thought I would start a thread for rare happenings that you may come across.
In this week's PGA Golf Tournament, Keegan Bradley was tied for the lead after day 1. After day 2, he missed the cut.

So you're a golf guy. Have you ever seen a guy miss the cut after being tied for the lead?

My wife's cousin is a PGA Player...he didn't do so well at Valspar. It was amazing that the Cut line was at +3. From what he told me, the wind played a huge part in it. He said that if you were really on your game, you could shoot MAYBE in the -3 range in a day. But if your swing wasn't perfect, +6 was the norm.CAA Flagship wrote:Just noticed something I have not seen before and thought I would start a thread for rare happenings that you may come across.

Anybody had a hole-in-one? I had one in 1982. I'm trying to go for most time between. I have witnessed 7 HIO's from 1994-2014. Also had a double eagle, which in reality is much more rare and difficult than an HIO, but not as sexy.

Hole #13 Kingsmill River Course. Was playing about 148 to the pin that day. One hopped a 7 iron into the hole.89Hen wrote:Anybody had a hole-in-one? I had one in 1982. Was playing with our usual Sunday group of 3 foursomes. It cost me nearly $300 in the clubhouse bar.
And another $70 for a plaque.

Made double eagle one time. I was in college and a buddy and I teed it up at 6:00 am with a couple of retired wheat farmers. They made me buy after the round. It was one of my first am ale encounters.89Hen wrote:Anybody had a hole-in-one? I had one in 1982. I'm trying to go for most time between. I have witnessed 7 HIO's from 1994-2014. My only hole in one happened when I was giving a 9 hole playing lesson which was pretty cool. A little knock down 7 iron from 160 that never left the flag, and one-hopped in. The student had also just holed out for eagle from around 60 yards on a par 5 just two holes before.

Nice going Kalm and Flaggy. Our guys golf group has a standing bet that any HIO is worth $50 from everyone playing that day. I've had to pay out twice. Normal Friday is 16 guys, so pretty handsome payday.

What in the hell does being a wheat farmer have to do with this story?kalm wrote:Made double eagle one time.
