There's an MLS team this year that might become the first MLS team to win the CONCACAF Champions League. Says something to the development of MLS (also says that's it's been a long slope to here).89Hen wrote:

That the MLS isn't as good as the top level (Premier League) of English soccer. I thought that was obvious. Is anyone making the case that the MLS is as good as the best club league in the world?89Hen wrote:What does DC United toying around with signing Rooney say about the state of MLS?GannonFan wrote:There's an MLS team this year that might become the first MLS team to win the CONCACAF Champions League. Bunch of whiners in that article. He's a name and he could sell tickets. The MLS isn't a top tier club league (there only ones that are are the EPL, La Liga, Serie A, and the Bundesliga) and has never pretended that they were. This is where big name players at the end of their career go to. He won't be there more than a year or two but he might sell some tickets for what's currently a pretty bad team.89Hen wrote:https://sports.yahoo.com/d-c-united-rep ... 36796.htmlGannonFan wrote:

Sounds like youre making an argument that Premier is better than Bundesliga, thoughGannonFan wrote:That the MLS isn't as good as the top level (Premier League) of English soccer. From top to bottom it could be - but like Skelly said, it would at least be an argument.CID1990 wrote:Sounds like youre making an argument that Premier is better than Bundesliga, thoughGannonFan wrote:

I had a crappy wifi connection at the time, and couldn't watch the video, so didn't know who they were. Course the article fails to mention they were Mexican. Typical shoddy journalism..Just read the comments section, which will always set the record straight as far as race when the media fails to..SDHornet wrote:This...Mexicans...93henfan wrote: It’s a soccer country where they were born.

a World Cup with venues like Azteca and the Rose Bowl all in one?
We may not win it (or even be in it) but a "North American" World Cup would kick anybody else's ASS

Saw my only World Cup game at the Rose Bowl in 94 - Sweden vs Cameroon. A great game for my straight friends to be at - warm, sunny with a lot scantily clad Swedish women around.
Doesn't the host country automatically get a bid?CID1990 wrote:I'm a fan and I told friends about this bid a year ago...93henfan wrote:US, Canada, and Mexico will host the 2026 World Cup. Just got the ESPN alert on my phone.
