Monday's CIT scores,

Central Michigan 94, Fort Wayne 89
Drake 80, Abilene Christian 73
Liberty 65, NC A&T 52
San Diego 88, Hartford 72

Just a hunch, I'm thinking PSU is going to San Diego, Northern Colorado will play Drake, Wofford gets Liberty and Sam Houston will take on Central Michigan.

The Bogdan Biznyuk era at EWU officially came to an end as the Eags fell to hard to Utah Valley in Orem 87-65. Bliznyuk scored 27 points, which was enough for him to break EWU's single-season scoring record (Tyler Harvey). He also finished his career with a Big Sky record 2169 points. The problem for Eastern tonight, however, was that no other player scored more than 8. It wasn't all good for Bliznyuk, either, as he had 6 of EWU's 11 turnovers.

Also, PSU's CIT matchup is now known and listed above. I still haven't seen anything on NoCo's pending contest.

No story yet, but it is up on the CIT tournament board. Drake at Northern Colorado, 3-18. Pretty handy for Drake's coach who is listed as a candidate at Colorado State.

Thanks. UNC's site now has a news story about it, even though it's still not on their schedule.

In case you forgot about the women's games tonight… Weber won their WBI game at Texas Southern, while Idaho is getting pasted in the WNIT first round in Davis. More on those, plus the Montana NCAA game, to come.

Montana out to a 9-0 start against Michigan after 4ish minutes. Michigan with 3 turnovers already. They averaged 9 per game.

Akoh in foul trouble, but that's the only real negative as Montana leads 14-8. No offensive rebounds to speak of for either team thus far.

Montana down 3 at half. They slowed down with baskets quite a lot. If Montana can start shooting better this should be a great game.

Guards attacking the rim has been the most effective offense by far. Krslovic, Pridgett, and especially Akoh have looked lost most of the time on that end.

Oguine with two fouls already hurts.

For real. If the Griz shot even 60% this game would be a blowout. :ohno:

Griz decide that making baskets is dumb and end their season.

They scored 19 points in the second half. That's pretty good when you consider they only had 2 points halfway through the half.

3/15 Games

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Montana went down to Michigan as expected 61-47. The Griz led 10-0, but really struggled to get any offense going after that point. Only scoring 2 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half ultimately did them in.

For the third straight year, the Big Sky went down hard in the first round of the WNIT as Idaho lost to UC Davis 82-62. Davis outshot the Vandals 56%-39% from the field and 45%-23% from the arc. Morgan Bertsch led the way with 27 points on 80% shooting for the Aggies.

Weber moved to 4-1 all-time in the WBI after beating Texas Southern in Houston 66-56. The Wildcats outscored the Tigers 20-8 in the fourth quarter to clinch the victory. Larryn Brooks went 8/13 from the arc and had 26 points to lead the Wildcats. Kaitlyn Palmer had 29 points for TSU, but she only shot 36% from the field. This game also had only 12 total free-throw attempts, a low number considering how whistle-happy SWAC games seem to be on average. This victory sets up a War of the Purple as Weber will head to Conway to play Central Arkansas Monday.

Also, as an aside, Idaho's Taylor Pierce finished the season with a Big Sky single-season record 137 three pointers and currently holds the Big Sky career record with 318 (she's only a junior). Pierce & teammate Mikayla Ferenz also set the NCAA record for combined three-pointers by two teammates (266). There were actually 3 Big Sky players that shattered the previous record for single-season threes: Pierce (137), Ferenz (129), & Larryn Brooks (120 & counting)—the previous record was only 95, set by Weber's Kailie Quinn 2 years ago. Three players also shattered the previous career record for three pointers (254-Katie Bussey): Pierce (318), Ferenz (299), and Sac State's Maranne Johnson (299). Pierce & Ferenz are, of course, not done with their careers.

The Northern Colorado women went down to Michigan in the first round of the NCAAs 75-61. The Bears overcame a 15-8 first-half turnover deficit—ultimately winning that stat by 2 in the end—but got dominated on the boards in the second half. The two Savannahs combined for 41 points, but the other NoCo players only combined for 20. Michigan also shot 57% from the field.

60? How about 45? That would have done it.

Yeah I just picked a number. If the O played as well as the D we would have blown them out.

San Diego hit a buzzer-beating trey to beat Portland State 67-64. The Viks led by 9 at the half thanks to 33% shooting by the Toreros, but shot 33% themselves in the second period. Ryan Edwards led the Viks with 18 points in his final game, but went 1/8 from the field after halftime. Brandon Hollins had a game-high 10 rebounds in what was also his final game. Another PSU senior, Bryce Canda, didn't play because he broke his hand in the Big Sky quarterfinals.

Northern Colorado prevented the Big Sky men from going 0-for-the-postseason by beating Drake at home 81-72. The Bears went 11/22 from the arc, 6 of those by Andre Spight. They also got UNC's first-ever triple-double (12 points, 10 assists, 11 rebounds) from Jordan "Monster Slam" Davis. Tanner Morgan also showed no ill effects from his Semifinal choke by going 9/12 from the field and scoring 19 points.
