NOCO 21-35 IDST
MTST 40-0 WEB
UMT 14-28 NAU

  • NConf Record: 0-0

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 12-7

Best Performance: (#3) Montana St. 40, (#10) Weber St. 0 - Not only did the Bobcats shut out the (admittedly suspect) Weber offense, they racked up 518 total yards and 8.4 yards-per-play against a supposedly good Wildcat D.

Worst Performance: Cal Poly 21, Portland St. 59 - The 'Stangs lose rushing 404-97 against a team that was also expected to finish in the bottom half of the Big Sky.

Most Surprising Result: (#13) Montana 14, Northern Arizona 28 - Thanks to a pathetic 231 total yards and 0.8 yards-per-carry on the ground, Montana head coach Bobby Hauck loses to NAU for the first time while coaching the Griz (he did lose to NAU while at UNLV).

Southland

TAMUC 9-10 ODU

    Overall: 6-21

    vs. FCS: 0-1
    Overall: 2-11

Best Performance: Texas A&M-Commerce 9, (FBS) Old Dominion 10 - The Lion defense forces 5 turnovers and holds the Monarchs to just 15 yards rushing as they just barely miss an unexpected FBS scalp.

Worst Performance: Southeastern Louisiana 19, Houston Christian 34 - The Lions allowed 549 yards to the lowly Huskies and have already equaled their loss total from each of the past two seasons.

Most Surprising Result: Texas A&M-Commerce 9, (FBS) Old Dominion 10 - Commerce looked pretty bad in their first 2 outings, so this was a nice rebound despite the loss.

Missouri Valley

UTU 14-59 MIZST
LIND 17-48 ILST
WIU 17-37 SUU

  • NConf Record: 2-1
    Overall: 20-16

    vs. FCS: 2-1
    Overall: 18-6

Best Performance: Missouri St. 59, Utah Tech 14 - Jacob Clark throws for 414 yards and 5 touchdowns on just 26 attempts as the Bears easily pick up their first win of the season.

Worst Performance: Western Illinois 17, Southern Utah 37 - This was a bit closer than the final score—SUU scored 2 TDs in the last 2 minutes—but still… the Leathernecks were held to -7 rushing yards as they went down for the 17th. straight time.

Most Surprising Result: (none) - It was apparently Senior Skip Day for the Missouri Valley this week, so there weren't many games to choose from.

Worst Performance: Abilene Christian 17, Central Arkansas 52 - One week after playing ranked Incarnate Word close, the Wildcats are outgained 594-232 by unranked UCA.

Most Surprising Result: Tarleton St. 27, (DII) Southwest Baptist 13 - The Texans struggle to finish off a Bearcat team that lost to Texas-Permian Basin by 79 points last week. :?

Pioneer

DAY 25-40 USD
MHEAD 28-35 STTHOM
MARIST 36-30 VALPO (OT)
stdrew 6-84 DVDSN
BUT 28-18 STET

  • NConf Record: 1-0
    Overall: 11-18

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 1-14

Best Performance: Butler 28, Stetson 18 - Bulldog QB Bret Bushka was surprisingly quiet (54 yards passing), but Jyran Mitchell more than made up for that with 238 yards and 3 TDs on the ground.

Worst Performance: Valparaiso 30, Marist 36 (OT) - The Beacons start 0-3 for the 4th. time in the last 6 years.

Most Surprising Result: Valparaiso 30, Marist 36 (OT) - Despite being favored by more than touchdown at home, Valpo falls to 2-10 all-time versus the Red Foxes.
