Griz Suffering Major Personnel Losses

Around 10 players from last season are now gone from the Montana roster. Departures under a new regime are hardly uncommon, but the talent level of some of these departing players is alarming:

1. CB Markell Sanders - Sanders was to be UM's one returning starter at corner, but he bolted in December. His early departure suggests it's possible he had decided to leave before Stitt was fired (& it was therefore unavoidable), but his reasons have never been revealed AFAIK.

2. QB Gresch Jensen - The defection you've probably heard the most about. Jensen threw for 2521 yards, accounted for 26 total touchdowns, and put up a 148 efficiency rating in 2017 as a RS-freshman. He was also a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award. Based on an interview with one of the Nuanez brothers on Missoula's ESPN Radio, it sounds like he was basically out the door after Stitt was fired and was just kinda going through the motions during Spring Ball (he announced his departure shortly thereafter).

3. DE Chris Favoroso - He had 13 TFLs and 6 sacks as a RS-sophomore last year, but just announced his intent to transfer earlier this week. He apparently wasn't going to fit in the new defensive scheme (it's rumored to be a 3-3-5) and there are multiple rumors about new DC Kent Baer being quite arrogant & dismissive toward him. Favoroso seems way too talented to just throw away, especially since he's already been offered a scholarship by an FBS school per his twitter account.

But Bobby Hauck is god, so these guys are all trash, snowflake losers that were too much pussies to handle a real man coaching.

Sanders was concussion-related, I believe.

And get ready for some more high profile names to be hittin' the bricks...

We blew the last six seasons, we'll blow this year, we'll blow for the foreseeable future. I already came to terms with it long ago. I got other shit to do anyways.

Don't worry about us, you've got that red hot "rivalry" with Portland State to help keep people interested

So you're saying there's a chance the Hornets can steal one in Missoula in late Sept?

It's probably the best chance they'll ever have.

Didn't Sac State almost beat UM in Missoula when Brock blocked a extra point...I can't remember for sure, but I remember thinking "Of course they pulled this off...."

That was Tripp that blocked it.

Anyone know where their ex-qb is heading?

Fee free to lose a few more. UNI will need a few more departures for a chance.

I have the newspaper right here. Tripp blocked the FG, Brock clinched it with a pick

Wait, that was Cal Poly. I don't even remember a close Sac game.

2000 & 2010 were close, and the 2000 game did have a missed PAT.

Well, don't worry about Portland State. Griz could probably suit up the varsity team from Sentinel High School and still beat us by 4 touchdowns.

I actually have it as a must win for us. This is a "playoffs or bust" season given what we have returning. Problem with the griz game is that it will be the 3rd road game in a row so this game likely determines if playoffs are even possible. :twocents:

Oh, come on…

They'd need at least a couple ringers from Glacier.

Maybe I was thinking of the 2013 game. Sac State lost in OT 51-48.

That one was in Sacramento, though.
