Ah shit. I have said many times that I really liked that guy and this just sucks. Sorry UD fans, family, and all that knew and were affected by him. RIP

RIP. He was before my FCS time, but if you have a stadium named after you, you must have done something right.

300 wins, a bunch of national titles, enshrined in the CFB HOF, bronzed on the west side of the Stadium with a field bearing his name, and a helluva human being as well.

RIP to the master of the Wing-T.

My BiL was a high school coach and lived with us for a year. This book was always laying around...

RIP to a legend. As I understand it, the UD coach before Raymond back in th 1950-60s invented the Wing T? but Raymond was the one who perfected it and who's name is associated with it..

The bus sat at the University of Delaware Field House parking lot and, as the defeated team disembarked, the quarterback shuffled past coach Tubby Raymond, perched in his usual front seat. Delaware had lost 46-6 to Lehigh on Sept. 29, 1984, in Bethlehem at Taylor Stadium, a frequent house of horrors for the Blue Hens.

Rich Gannon, Delaware’s promising sophomore quarterback, had a tough, humbling day, throwing four interceptions. The first was returned 100 yards for a touchdown with Gannon getting hurt trying to make a tackle.

“I was coming down the aisle, I was nervous, I had my head down,” Gannon said. “As I was getting off the bus, [Raymond] said to me, ‘Hey, I wish I were you.’

“I just stopped and I turned back around and I said ‘Excuse me?’ He said ‘I wish I were you. You don’t realize how many great days you have in front of you.’ It was just the perfect thing that I needed to hear at that point.”

Gannon, who went on to become a UD All-American and have a 17-year NFL career, told that story Saturday, the day after he and fellow Blue Hens were jolted to learn Raymond had died...

I'll just say Rest In Peace and leave it at that. Nothing else to say positive.

He personally lobbied against my team to block us from the playoffs. My apologies for not really caring.

Yeah. An 8-3 second place Yankee Conference team would have been in trouble.

FWIW, I lobby against Towson State College every year. Of course, the results that "football" team leaves on the field most years certainly makes my lobbying a little easier.

What year was Towson St snubbed in? Give us the year and we can talk about whether your weird chastising of the recently departed is with cause or not.

Are you talking about the year the Hens went to Montana and beat the Griz and then almost beat Marshall at their home the next week? Which was also the year after the Hens went to the Marshall Tournament National Semifinals?
