Hill, 42, is in his fourth season as the head coach of the Wildcats and this year has led Weber State to its best season ever. The Wildcats have won a school-record 11 wins and won two games in the FCS Playoffs for the first time ever. Hill also led Weber State to a the Big Sky Conference title and a top-10 national ranking.

This year's Wildcat team is 11-2 heading into the quarterfinals of the playoffs at No. 1 James Madison on Friday. The Wildcats also had 17 players earned All-Big Sky honors, including a league-best eight on the first team.

Hill currently has a 26-22 overall record at Weber State and is 20-12 in Big Sky Conference games. He currently has the best winning percentage in WSU history in conference games and has the second-highest overall winning percentage.

He has guided Weber State to three-straight winning seasons and over the last three seasons has an overall record of 24-12 and is 18-6 in Big Sky games.

I chatted with jay a little bit before and after the game on FB and told him good luck and then good job and to represent Utah through the rest of the playoffs. He’s a great guy, great coach, glad to know him as an old friend, but you can bet he won’t stay long at Weber. Wittingham has one more year to turn things around at Utah, and if he doesn’t, mark my words.....jay will bounce for his alma mater.

Btw, now that the stinging has subsided, congrats to weber, but....I want to remind the Weber fans in here that yes...they nailed us in the playoff game, But SUU still has 5 wins out of the last 7 played, has been in the bsc for 5 years and has already won it twice, and has been to the playoffs 3 times. The future of fcs in Utah is still red. Looking forward to a good rivalry in the future.

I will agree that SUU has been a valuable addition to this conference and I really enjoy how epic the rivalry has become. But I would disagree with the future of the FCS in Utah being red, especially If the future is anything like the past in this series.

Since 2001 it has almost always alternated winners in the series.

2001- Southern Utah (home team won)
2003- Weber State (Home team won)
2004- Southern Utah
2005- Weber State
2006- Weber State (Home team won)
2011- Southern Utah
2012- Weber State
2013- Southern Utah
2014- Southern Utah (Home team won)
2015- Southern Utah

That shows me a very even and competitive rivalry, not one team's dominance over the other. The strange thing about this series at least lately is how often the road team wins it. Home field advantage has been almost nonexistent in this rivalry. For instance, Weber leads the series 17-8. Yet all but two of SUU's wins are in Ogden. Southern Utah is 2-6 in the rivalry at home but are 6-11 in Ogden.

Its true that SUU has made some serious noise since becoming a Sky member, but with Coach Hill (who I believe will be here till at least the end of his contract) at the helm I see Weber State becoming one of the elites of this conference.

What I saw on Saturday really showed me see what Weber State under Jay Hill can accomplish. The Future for the Purple Cats is very bright.

The one thing I think we can agree on is FCS football period in Utah is currently alive and well.

Well said, truthfully I just hope this is a sign that the BSC power hold will move south out of Montana and Washington for a while. However with coach Hill, most coaches sign extensions to save their future employment status while they are on a hot streak, but a coach like Jay that has turned Weber completely around from the dredges to a powerhouse in the BSC and FCS. Coaches like that have a hard time turning away the big dollars that come sniffing around when that kind of success is apparent. If he makes it to the end of his 6 years Ill do a naked jig on Wall Avenue.

I do like how other teams in this conference are winning the title now and it isn't just the traditional powers That s for sure, however the downside to that is that if either Montana or Eastern doesn't win the conference or make the playoffs the conference as a whole is viewed as weak, regardless if it is or not. Which results in the Big Sky Champ only getting an 8 seed despite having a better resume than have of the other seeds. Or more deserving Big Sky teams being left out in the playoffs in favor of other FCS schools with similar or worse resume's.

We need Montana and Eastern to be good to get the image of this conference back up to where it belongs. Now having said that that doesn't mean I want Montana and Eastern to win the conference but we do at least need them to be good again.
