I think Youngstown State's defense played a pretty good game given the quality of the offense they were playing against. But to have any shot the Penguins would have had to avoid big mistakes of their own and hang in the game hoping they could win as the underdog by playing a cleaner game than the Dukes did. Obviously that didn't happen. The favorite played the cleaner game.

But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

I'm a little surprised that Alabama's only a 6.5 point favorite over Clemson, given Clemson's struggles on D against VT in the ACC championship game and getting basically a bye in the 1st round of the playoffs, playing the 3rd place team in the Big 10. I guess maybe because Lane Kiffin got shown the door and the Tide's going into Monday night's game with a new OC. Still, I don't see Clemson coming within 2 TDs of them.

Good point they'll certainly have motivation not that they should be lacking any since it's the championship game

Thanks to those saying congrats. Had a great time in Frisco. My party of 3 (2 JMU grads) checked into on Thur the Hilton in N Plano (right across the highway from Frisco), and discovered it was the YSU team hotel (and by the looks of it their official fan hotel also). All their players, coaches, athletic dept people, university staff, and a lot of their boosters/donors/fans were there. On Fri evening the lobby/bar area was so packed with them could hardly get through. We were the only JMU people at that hotel that I saw on Thur, getting lots of looks from the YSU fans. At least had some JMU fans check in on Fri but we were still heavily outnumbered. Probably the only hotel in Frisco/N Plano where the YSU fans outnumbered the JMU fans. After checking in Thur saw Bo Pelinni in the bar area. Rode the elevator with Jim Tressel on Fri. Even had YSU players on my floor- Right after I stumbled back to my room on Thur night heard a YSU I assume assitant coach doing bed checks about 11:40. But every other hotel I heard of JMU fans heavily outnumbered YSU fans..

Not many JMU fans around on Thur. Ironically in both Tight Ends and Wild Pitch on Thur night saw no JMU fans but did see some NDSU fans. Also saw a party of about 10 of them (grandparents, parents, kids) at the Bavarian Grill in Plano on Fri, and lot of them at the tailgate/game. Kind of weird seeing all the NDSU fans.

By Fri pm JMU fans were EVERYWHERE. Saw a lot at the Bush Library at SMU. I'm sure Total Wine and More in Frisco did five figures in sales to JMU fans on Fri. The official JMU Alumni association restuarants/bars, Scruffie Duffies and Ringos Pub, had massive JMU crowds with waits of a 1/2 massive waits to get in, so a lot of people went somewhere else.

Red Lot was a sea of JMU fans, despite the 11 degees with a windchill of 2 when the lots open at 7:00 am. High yesterday was only 33?, yet Frisco forecast is 73 by Tues..

Heard of lots of flights Fri out of DC, BWI, RIC, Norfolk, etc, and returning last night & today that are large #s, some majority JMU fans. My packed flight to PHL, Airbus 321, about 1/2 (close to 100) JMU..

Congrats on the Championship, BDK. :thumb:
Thanks, Kalm. I know it must suck to know that EWU literally as close as you could be making it without making it. Think EWU might have been a little tougher opponent (way better offense than YSU but not as good a defense). I've said before that pre season polls are as worthless as titties on a bull. With that said pre season I think top 4 will be JMU, NDSU, YSU, EWU.
JMU- preseason #1 always goes to the defending Nat Champ, irrelgardless of who & how many starters back.
-NDSU only had something like 11 seniors on their roster and get back their All World LB and stud DL who both went out for the season before the playoffs..
-YSU- Pelinni enterting his 3rd season, will have YSU a perennial playoff team, and frequent NC contender.
-EWU- lose Kupp but have Gebrud and whole OL back among others..

Good chance JMU will run into EWU next Dec/Jan. Hopefully if not Frisco then in Harrisonburg..

Great atmosphere, but Toyota stadium sucks.
-Need much bigger football scoreboard than the one tucked into the corner.
-Need much bigger video replay than the one tucked in the corner.
-No videos screens by the concessions so you don't miss any action while waiting in line (esp beer lines were very long)
-The end construction piles of dirt looked like crap.

Having an NC game in a soccer stadium with a massive dirt pile in one endzone is bush league.

You know, I didn't watch a single football game between Dec. 3rd and the fourth quarter of the Penn State -USC game, and that was only because my son turned it on.

Knew that the SHSU QB was hurt, so I figured their run was done and didn't care about any other game. Haven't looked at the box scores and haven't read about the games...don't care that much.

Odd though, that two teams that weren't that good earlier in the season are in the finals. Good for them...and it just shows that FCS football is devoid of really good teams.

Happy you beat NDSU at their place...they were not deserving of their seed. With SHSU's QB hurt, UNH's lousy D, and NDSU not being that good, you've had an easy trip to the final. No asterisk though...if you can beat a plodding YSU team you are the champs.

Good luck in the final...you have a Delaware guy on your team so I will be rooting for JMU. Can't watch that game either.

Of course, I went back and read this thread...it is hilarious that both finalists have multiple players suspended. Seems like JMU just loves their criminals.
You were claiming SHSU was going to "blow JMU out". JMU 65, SHSU 7. Yeah, the SHSU QB was hurt, but he wasn't worth a fraction of 58 points. But he still played. So if he was healthy maybe JMU would have only beaten Soft Houston State by 30-40 points instead of 58. And Keeler winning National Coach of The Year for going undefeated vs a cupcake schedule was a joke. Lucky for him the voting took place before he SHSU was embarrassed vs JMU.

YSU might not have been that good earlier in the season, but JMU was very good Sept-Oct, turned it up a notch Nov-Dec.

And NDSU not being that good? :dunce: While they may not have been as great this season as their previous 5 NC seasons, you don't go 10-1/7-1 out of the MVFC, the top I-AA conference the last at least 4-5 seasons, including beating ranked Iowa, without being very good.

So smoking pot makes one a criminal?
Uhhhhh...I know you aren't the brightest bulb, but yeah...criminals. Criminals that were allowed to play only because their results had not come back yet.

Hey, we'll never know how that game would have really turned out, will we?

Briscoe couldn't throw the ball, and you had 7 members that did something illegal and should have been suspended.

Hey, maybe the Dukes will carve out the trophy and make a bong with it.

You know what is interesting, though...the two teams that should get called for PI every play got into the final. It is almost as though the refs had the same idea about what is illegal as you do.
These signatures have a 500 character limit?

In any event I'm grateful to JMU for finally knocking the prairie poopers off their pedestal. :thumb:

How come BDK gets all the thanks for not being on the field and contributing at all to the outcome of the game, while I get nothing?!?! I didn't do anything either other than watch it!!!!

Sorta like the Stanley Cup, but instead of lugging the thing around with you all day and drinking out of it/bathing in it, you get to take bong hits on it all day! I'd dig that.
