Guess we shall see what happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object. :coffee:
Your Eastern demise prognostications are as entertaining as your analogies...
If EWU is going to go 8-3 this year, they're gonna have to run the table after their first three games.

Griz are tearing it up but perhaps someone should pull up the offensive rankings of their opponents.
You're really harshing my mellow here, bud.

I'm aware that we haven't faced any offensive juggernauts yet (not including CP because we've apparently been damned to TO hell for all eternity). We're definitely going to know what the defense is really made of after the next two weeks.

Not too shabby is right, Ryan...but you were WAY off on EWU. Why?

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Weird prediction. EWU has only done worse than 6-5 a couple times in the past 20 years or so.

That said, I can see why people were so low on us. Entirely new offensive line made up mostly of Freshman and Sophomores, breaking in another new QB, etc.

I actually predicted a 7-4 type season, which I guess is still possible...but no way were we only going to win 4 games with the talent we have.

You gotta remember that this is something I did very early this year, and I based most of it on returning talent and a wild guess at preseason strength of schedule.

Look @ the games I picked Eastern to lose

@ Wash State (Looked to be one of the best Pac 12's at the start of the year
@ North Dak State (5 time champs)
Northern Iowa (who at the time was a team that a lot of people claimed would challenge the Bizon for the the MVFC crown)
@ NAU (selected as BSC preseason favorite)
@ Montana State (I admit, I gave the Bobcats way too much love)
@ Cal Poly (tough game)
@ Portland State (after what they did last year and with most of it coming back this year

Seriously with a schedule like that could you blame me? The only bad pick in there for me was @ Montana State, all the other's are solid picks. But so far Eastern has been the biggest surprise for me this year. But aside from them I believe I've done a pretty solid job.

A mixed bag to be sure, but this was one of my weaker years predicting this. I think we're all surprised at how bad PSU did, and the reason for NAU's underachievement is obvious.

Big plusses: nailed NoCo, correctly picked ISU last, nailed MSU until they beat the Griz ( :? )
Big minuses: overrated Montana, underrated CP & EWU

Final Standings

My prediction
1. North Dakota
2. Northern Arizona
3. Portland State
4. Weber State
5. Montana
6.Cal Poly
7. Montana State
8. Eastern Washington
9. Southern Utah
10. UC Davis
11. Idaho State
11b/12. Northern Colorado
13. Sacramento State

Actual Final Standings
1. Eastern Washington +7
1b / 2. North Dakota
3. Weber State +1
4. Cal Poly +2
5. Southern Utah +4
6. Northern Colorado +6
7. Northern Arizona -7
8. Montana -3
9. Montana State -2
10. Portland State -7
11. UC Davis -1
12. Sacramento State +1
13. Idaho State -2

I did a heck of a lot better at predicting the games than the final standings. The only one I got right on the Final Standings was North Dakota tying for first. Other than that it was ugly.

Final record of games predicted 107-36. Not bad for my first attempt at a season predictions for 13 teams.

1. Idaho State - 11-0
2. UC Davis - 11-0
3. Weber State - 11-0
4. North Dakota - 9-2
5. Southern Utah - 9-2
6. Cal Poly 8-3
7. Montana 8-3
8. Sacramento State 8-3
9. Montana State 7-4
10. Northern Arizona 7-4
11. Northern Colorado 7-4
12. Portland State 6-5
13. Eastern Washington 5-6

Gonna have to try again next year and see if I can get better.

I edited my awards post above because I just realized Weber's leading receiver is a TE.

Nice simple breakdown of the conference by the Spokesman's Jim Allen. Of note: NAU and Poly have favorable schedules, and the Super Hornets return 18 starters!
NAU’s conference schedule is a dream: The Lumberjacks miss EWU, North Dakota and Weber.

Cal Poly also returns eight defensive starters and has the easiest schedule in the league, missing EWU, North Dakota and the Montana schools.

1 error: Montana was 6-5 last year, not 5-6.
