Could this be a potential FCS final????The Bison have a very stingy run defense (80.7 ypg) only Mercer and Harvard are ranked higher nationally. Both are ranked in the top 20 in rushing offense.

possibly. All depends on how the bracket ends up, and which teams get hot and/or cold during the playoff run.

I agree. They are among the best. SHSU needs to be on the short list too. A few others may have a chance as well. The next two weeks should sort this out. But this final wouldn't surprise anyone.

If North Dakota St makes it back then Marcus Williams should use this as a NFL audition

I don't see anyone beating them. They are the chalk.

Played High School ball in the Twin Cities, should have been on the Gophers radar, but hey, the Gophers are still the Gophers.

-1. They're a great team, but not invincible. I think someone upsets them and keeps App the only team to have three-peated. :twocents:

I was thinking the Griz, ten years after they upset us at home. :thumb:

The Griz has not been a threat in quite a while.Usually a celebration took place in Montana after they won the national championship.

After watching Towson/Villanova on TV, I think NDSU would win the game, but it would be a very good match-up for both teams.

Two teams I would like the Bison to face this year are EIU and EWU. Two very prolific offenses and mediocre defenses. Passing games that would challenge the Bison pass defense.

Towson could beat NDSU...last year they also had a chance.

The odd thing about the Bison's run was that they didn't face a balanced offense in the playoffs. Woffy, GSU, SHSU were all very run happy teams. It was almost a custom set up for NDSU to waltz through to the title without having their DBs challenged through the air. Don't give me Lehigh - without their best WR...Lehigh wasn't going very far anyway.

Towson has balance that would force NDSU to play the whole field. Now, despite all their talent, Towson is also very undisciplined...and that might be their downfall.

I'm not one who thinks NDSU is a lock. They had close calls both championship years. Very fortunate to beat Georgia Southern last year. And, heck, Indiana State beat them during the regular season. I think they're the team with the best odds of winning but if I had to bet them against the field I'd probably bet the field.

Having said that, I think they'd be fine playing a balanced offense. UNI is a balanced offense with a very good passing quarterback and some talented receivers. NDSU held the Panthers to 12 o 36 passing (36 percent) for 128 yards. And I think one reason they did that is they can get after the quarterback without having to blitz. They do blitz at times but their defensive line rotation can bring the heat. I think they only had one sack but they harassed UNI's QB pretty good. He did a good job of getting rid of the ball rather than take sacks but you can see what that did to his completion percentage.

NDSU has played a lot of different types of offenses over the past three years, but nobody has reached 30 points on the Bison since they lost 38-31 to Eastern Washington in the 2010 quarterfinals. The maximum they've given up in those 36 straight games is 27. To me they've shown they can play defense against all kinds of offenses.

not sure if the UNI/NDSU game can be used as an accurate barometer.
heated rivalry games can skew results. Throw in coach/player defections over the recent past, and it can become more skewed.

Yeah but you've got 36 straight games now without anybody reaching 30 points to go along with that. I don't know if you can find anybody else who's done that in at least their last 36 games but I'm pretty sure there aren't too many.

Coach/player defections?

Klieman taking a better job at NDSU? Is that the reason the Bison have beaten UNI 3 straight years? Andre Martin going to NDSU for grad school when UNI didn't have his major?

NDSU was/is the better team in all of those games. UNI was a really good dual threat team when they played.
