The paperwork has been signed for the Army football team to play at Yale in 2014, as part of the 100th year anniversary of the Yale Bowl

Kudos to Army.

Very cool.

I might make the trip back to New Haven just to see this game. Probably get some Pepe's pizza or Sally's apizza while I'm there. :)

Great game for Yale and New Haven!

What openings does Yale have in the upcoming seasons? Any chance they are going to invite CCSU to the Bowl one of these days?

Great game for Yale and kudos to West Point for being willing to participate.

Must mean that Yale's "counter" exception request was granted?

EDIT:
Yale director of athletics Tom Beckett said no waiver has been signed, but Army is planning to honor the contract regardless of whether or not the game counts towards being bowl eligible.

Beckett said the NCAA doesn’t normally review waiver requests until 1½ years before the game is played, which means that would not happen until the winter of 2012.

“We’re hoping we are viewed as a countable opponent and will go through the waiver process,” Beckett said. “They have agreed to come and we are honored they are coming to New Haven.”
Or not.

When was the last time a FBS school played at a FCS school?

Hint: it was 1988, I think.

Didnt Idaho play at Montana a fear years back (and lost)? I think they also lost to EWU that same year too...

The fact that our only recent "FBS" win in recent years was Idaho saddens me...

Hudson high will not come to Charleston under any circumstances. We took 2 out of 3 from them in the 90's and that was about more than those boys could take. HAVING to take shit and LIKE it from Officers who went to The Citadel a place they cannot understand no matter how hard they try with their giant and useless brains. They also don't care for the fact that, on SEVERAL occasions during the Late Unpleasantness the South Carolina Corps of Cadets DEFEATED the army of the 'late united states' on the field of battle. Those were GREAT times for The Citadel and the WHOLE SOUTH! Our Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia floated above MICHIE STADIUM and The Citadel defeated hudson high beneath it!

Yes. Idaho played in Missoula in 1999, 2001, and 2003.

Harvard played Army a few times back in the 80s, and we actually beat them once IIRC. It would be nice to renew that rivalry.

THe Big Sky teams have been playing much better competition than Idaho lately. So its no suprise that they arent winning many of them.

The problem with this is that many would consider Idaho to be a "BINO", that is "FBS in Name Only." And while they'd be right, they're still technically FBS, so beating them at home gets FBS brownie points for the playoffs regardless of public opinion about the Vandals.

Same could be said for 90% of the teams in the SunBelch, C-USA, the MAC, all the WAC and 1/2 the ACC. :coffee:

How many of you knew it is 'mikey' and not 'mishy'? Just found out this week I've been mispronouncing it my entire life.

Just now, for the first time ever, since I've never seen that word before, I pronounced it like "Mitchie"

Only because of the old NCAA football games did I know how to.

I would have gone Mitchie if I didn't play that game.
