  • Best Performance: Weber St. 49, Cal Poly 35 - Both teams went over 500 yards, but a 5:1 turnover advantage made the difference for the Wildcats.

    Worst Performance: Maine 15, (#3) Northern Iowa 40 - Michael Brusko throws 4 picks, the usually potent Black Bear running game is held to 84 yards, & the usually stout Maine defense gives up 422 yards and 40 points.

    Most Surprising Result: Cal Poly 35, Weber St. 49 - Mustang QB Jonathan Dally throws 4 interceptions, 4 times as many as he threw in the regular season.

    Best Performance: Grambling 29, Southern 14 - The Tigers got behind 14-0 in the 1st. quarter, but took advantage of an injury to Jaguar QB Bryant Lee to dominate the rest of the game.

    Worst Performance: Texas Southern 7, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 28 - Martell Mallett runs for 141 yards and 2 TDs to help the Golden Lions finish a lousy season on a winning streak.

    Most Surprising Result: Alabama St. 17, (DII) Tuskegee 13 - Tuskegee was 10-0 and ranked #1 in the HBCU Top 10 poll, but the Hornets had none of that & held the Golden Lions to 230 yards (256 below their season average).
