I won't vote in the poll, but I will give you my picks. So far I am sitting at 15-2 for the year and hoping to improve. Three conference games and two non-conference dot the schedule this week. Interesting games, though, with the Montana/Eastern Washington game probably the most interesting. Here are my picks. Of course, all are my opinion only and all are open for discussion...
ISU at UNC---The Bengals have shown they've improved over the last few seasons, to the point that they cannot be taken lightly in conference games. The Bears have also shown they have improved and cannot be taken lightly. This is actually a good indication of where both improving teams are. Which one is more improving?...UNC 31, ISU 17.
UM at EWU---Two teams that surprised last week, and both not in a positive way. The Grizzlies looked very impressive with their opening win, yet stubbed their paw last week at Cal Poly. The Eagles put together a good performance in the opening week, then struggled against DII Central Washington. Puzzling in wondering which team will show up, on both sides...UM 31, EWU 24.
Drake at MSU---Ash's former team heads into Bobcat nation and meets a team smarting over their near miss against Washington State last week. By all accounts, the Bobcats should have pulled that game out. Now they meet a non-scholly Pioneer conference team. Can they focus on taking care of business this week or will there be a residual hangover from last week. Take care of business...MSU 45, Drake 10.
PSU at Oregon---The Vikings rebounded nicely from their opening day loss in the Pac-10 to get a win in a place that only saw one road team leave with a win last year. Their reward is to play Oregon, a team that has been destroying everyone and everything in its path. This game could be over in a hurry, maybe that is what the Vikings want. No pressure. No win, but no pressure...Oregon 51, PSU 12.
WSU at Sac State---Last week the Wildcats met a team (Northern Colorado) that people thought were up and comers, and the Wildcats ended up putting the upstarts in their place. This week, another chance to do that same thing, as people seem to think that the Hornets could be on the verge of something good. Last week it took the Wildcats 4 overtimes and home field. This week, on the road...Sac State 30, WSU 28.
15-2. Five games this week. Hoping to improve as I'm sure Scream will not understand logic and pick someone else.
