Before I do full-blown predictions, just let it be known that I believe that Coastal has a shot against Toledo. The MAC is ALWAYS vulnerable to FCS teams. I also think that Liberty will have a chane against Wake and Montana, and even Stony Brook. None of those games are lead pipe locks, mind you. But I do think that those games will be good ones.

I certainly agree with you SH...the Stony Brook game could be a surprise if it ends up much like the last two trips for the Seawolves to the mountain (33-0 in 2008 and 54-28 in 2010).

I have been impressed with my relative success in predicting results the last couple years. I nailed overall records for CCU, G-W and VMI last year and was only 1 or 2 games off on conference records for many of the teams...the only outlier ended up being CSU going 0-for-the season

in 2011 my predictions were all within 1 or 2 games of the actual record for both conference and overall for everyone as well: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=24674&p=510803&hili ... ns#p510803" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm confident that no one affiliated with the GW program thinks they will only win one game in 2012.

That's a DEFINITE possibility. The service academies are usually a wild card, so ANYTHING is possible, particularly for a squad as good as Stony Brook.

this is the first year that I dont have LU as the favorite clenz. We have been discussing this season on Flamefans and most of us have Liberty in the 6-5 to 8-3 range because of so much unsurety at the skill positions

Bj, how much weight does a team get for beating an FBS team when it comes to playoff at-large consideration. I have my hopes that we can be a team like Army even though we have minimal chances realistically. How important would such a win be in FCS playoffs considerations?

why do you feel that we have minimal chances agains beating army? I think our chances are very high actually, we are great at the run, and we are good at stopping the run. Army isn't so good at stopping the run, I feel our defense will be alot better from a year ago, and we were pretty good at stopping the run a year ago. Our guys are discipline and will contain their option offense. Also if we can minimize letting up big plays against syracuse defensively we will be in this game with a chance to win. I think our offense can compete with anyone, we are big strong young(OL) and experienced. I also think this might be the best we have been talent wise when it comes to the skill postions.We pushed 2 lower level 1a teams around offensively last year with a young O-Line( only 1 senior, rest were soph n fresh).

Furman is truly a toss up. I think we are even with them. GWebb and SB are strong teams, however, I think we have an equal shot. My best guess(hope) is that CCU only loses to EKU, App State and Stony Brook. The talent is there for us to defeat Liberty and G-Webb. I say overall, we go 6-4. We can be 7-3 if Toledo falls to us. :coffee:

I think it depends on how you do the rest of the season. a win over an FBS team is great and certainly boosts your resume but you have to win your FCS games as well. Look back at Liberty in 2008. They beat Ball State which is a resume booster but they lost to PC which pretty much killed their chances. A team like say an App State can afford an FCS loss because of the strength of not only their conference but also their prior resume. A team like the Seawolves has to pretty much be letter perfect to have a chance at an at large. At this point the only teams that I can see the Big South getting more than one bid with are LU, CCU and SBU, and itd probably only be two of the three that would be considered because the third would have to lose to the other two.

I think itll be about a three horse race with Liberty, COastal and Stony Brook once again. Presbyterian might surprise if they pull an upset or two. VMI is looking like they are moving into that second tier, G-W is very young and, CSU...with all due respect to CSUBUCDAD...looks like a dumpster fire after going 0-11 last year and not looking too promising this year except for maybe at RB and WR
