Are the ambulances at DE games for the football teams or the fans? DE should count the ambulance drivers and anybody they talk to in route to the hospital as in attendance.

If we had one person in a concession stand filling sodas, let's go with two. The opportunities are limitless!
I guess I don't really see the incentive for JMU or any FCS school to inflate its attendance numbers. If anything in JMU's case, I would expect the administration to under report attendance. A large segment of the fan base wants to see a move to FBS, but the administration doesn't support a move. Strong attendance numbers would provide more ammo to proponents of FBS, and I just don't see our current administration letting that happen.
I agree - I was just responding to the curious nugget in the DNR that JMU counts people as attendance that most places don't count (i.e. workers, media, basically anyone in the building). Not sure why they do that.

When your program has been playing football for longer than a cup of coffee you're bound to have some fans that have been supporting the team for years. If JayEmmYou is able to pull themselves back from the brink of mediocrity this year, and Mickie can find a way to keep his job, you guys may have an opportunity to create a winning tradition that you may be able to enjoy some day. Perhaps you'll even be able to pass that tradition down to your own kids one day if it's economically possible to reside in and find gainful employment (without joining the Teamsters) within an hour of campus.

We win 14-3, felt just like that fuckin Bloomsburg game from 2005? with even the same score. There's gonna be some problems getting out of the CAA this year.

CCSU is a pretty good team, in fact, probably the best in the NEC.I never quite got the 42-10 type predictions.

BTW, Bloomsburg in '05 was damn good and would have beaten a lot of FCS teams.

No, I agree, I remember that game, Bloomsburg was coming in off an undefeated regular season and had lost in the first round of the DII playoffs. A lot of JMU fans were predicting a blowout along the same scorelines but I wasn't so sure that was going to happen.

This year CCSU played a heck of a game, really capitalized on our turnovers and combined with the distractions of a new stadium opening, took it to us. It's easy to see why they were the preseason favorites out of the NEC and I'll be pulling for them the rest of the way.

The fact that the NEC only allows 38 scholarships should have the same effect as us playing up a level - first half is close and the depth yielded by additional scholarships means JMU should have pulled away in the second half and that's why it feels like a punch to the gut that the Blue Devils were able to keep up with us the entire game.

Finally, what was the call that gave them an additional play at the end of the game?

Final:

JMU -14
CCSU - 9

Great stadium - great game.

JMU by far had the better team - more speed, size, and depth. That said, I think it is easy to see CCSU isn't too far behind - we have a hell of a program. I would hope by now we've earned some national respect as a program.

Our D played great and FORCED turnovers. We earned eveytrhing we got because JMU was so talented, but not very disciplined. Quite a few penalties, including the last play of the game.

I didn't like the fake FG play. If we go for it on 4th and get the TD - its 10-7 CCSU, or take the FG and be down 7-6 with 5 minutes to go. We absolutley could have won the huge upset, but in the end the "better" team on paper won.

Fanstastic stadium, great crowd. JMU is a program to be reckoned with. CCSU will be back in Harrisonburg in 2013!

For some odd reason, JMU is under performing in the offense. I hate to say it, but I think we lose next week to Liberty, the question is, do we lose by a touchdown or by 21 points?

I was gonna say, are they that good that you guys were only able to beat them 14-9? :? Overall, really not any impressive scores among CAA teams today with the exception of Towson.

GD debacle..
-5 turnovers (to 2 for CCSU) Probably 90+% of the time you go -3 in the TOS you lose.
-Fumbled a kickoff for the 1st time since 08’ (I think) when did it twice in the semis vs Montana (gave me a bad flashback)
-Fumbled at the one yards line after a nice 60 some yd drive.
-Thorpe throws 2 long ball picks after last week throwing 2 beautiful long balls, one a 41 yd TD and the other a 47 yarder.
-I forget the 5th turnover (was another fumble)
-Rush for 342 yards but only 1 rushing TD (to go along with 1 passing TD).
-Defense postgame Mickey said played ok for most of the game, gives up a drive late in the 4th and a TD on the last play of the game which he wasn’t happy about. Kind of glad that happened because now the coaches can ride the defense this week too.
-Too many stupid penalties, esp of the 15 yard variety.
Not going to be a pleasant week in Harrisonburg this week.

I briefly heard the CCSU coach postgame saying how his players never gave up & fought to the end. I agree. They probably deserved to win the game and showed why they are the preseason pick by the NEC coaches to win the NEC.

Yes CCSU has earned respect.

I can't argue with forced TOs as far as the 3 fumbles because I don't have tape to go look at. But as far as the 2 INTs, Thorpe wasn't pressured on either one. No one "forced" him to throw shi**y passes (as I recall one was a relatively easy pick for the db, the other the DB made a pretty good play).

There was no penalty on the last play of the game. There wasn't a flag thrown and the down marker never changed. Mickey in the post game said when the clock said 2 seconds the ref told him there was something like 9 seconds. Brand new scoreboard and GD clock was malfunctioning I guess :ohno: JMU fans meanwhile are seeing 2 plays being run with 00:00 on the clock and going nuts...

CCSU must be a program to be reckoned with now--I don't follow either JMU or CCSU but I do remember the Dukes knocking off Va. Tech last year and CCSU getting beat by lowly YSU last year 63-24.Being on their home turf for the opening of their new very impressive stadium I ASSumed the Dukes would probably prevail by @ least 60pts. :o

No one, not even the most delusional JMU fans, predicted a 60 point JMU win. On the JMU board I saw predictions from about 7-40 points...

Thanks! As I said, JMU is a very good team. This was a tought test for them, but I'll be rooting for you guys to win the CAA. The team speed you had was impressive. We have 2 or 3 guys at that level, but you have dozens. I think the JMU game plan to ram it down on the ground was the right move. You moved the ball well, but TOs hurt drives. I thought our DBs played well against very good recievers and a good QB. You guys will be alright and we can win the NEC if we don't have any letdowns.

----

Stadium was fantastic! Some empty seats, but it looked 95% filled. The band in the end zone was loud and casued problems for us. I'm glad we were going into the other end for the 4th Q.

The tailgating and student attendence has to be one of the best at this level. Scorebaord is very nice, but a few minor complaints. They don't keep the score down/distance, time on the board at ALL TIMES. Its a great video board, but the lack of secondary scoreboards is odd.

We noiticed they let too much time off the lock on the 2nd to last play, so you explanation makes sense. By keeping the time on the field and not on the board was confusing.

I was in the "Visiting AD Suite" - the old press box on the small side. It was a nice little redo. Nothing like the new stuff on the other side, but a fun experience.

Ace . . . you wouldn't have been able to see this from where you were sitting, but there was a secondary scoreboard/clock on top of the pressbox/suite you were sitting in. Regardless however, I would like to see another scoreboard in the band endzone.

Thanks, I didn't see that. :thumb: I was thinking just a small ribbon scoreboard on the new side above the club level/below the suites. Just something basic with score, down/distance, and game time.

This is a fantastic building and IMO you guys don't need anything else until you announce the move to FBS. The "new" stands were just as nice as UConn's new digs. Your old side was very similar to Zable at W&M.

Oh, and how could I forget. JMU starts the season with 4 quality, experienced DTs. Starter Nick Emmons missed UNC and CCSU, hopefully back for Liberty. His replacement, Sean O'Neil, #98, knee injury (late 2nd qtr or early 3rd?), I don't remember him going down) likely done for year. :ohno: So right now down to 2 healthy/experienced, 3 if get Emmons back.....

We're doing a customized "run-on" video for each game (a la Cavman @ UVa) and here's the one for CCSU. This plays to build up to the team running out. FWIW, I didn't realize this thing had sound because people were going nuts...easily amused I guess, but still fun.
