This "targeting" thing

I'm guessing they won't do it but I think this "targeting" penalty thing has got to go. I say that after watching the games today and the role it plays. It's ridiculous. If you're going to have football play football.

Bring back spearing and the horsecollar tackle too!

And facemasks on plastic helmets have to go too. Bring back leathers.

It needs to be enforced more consistently.

And if we're going to eject players it needs to be confirmed by review and not just failed to overturn.

Guys, it wasn't just LSU. You see it all the time. A DB is preparing to make a tackle then right near the end the ball carrier crouches so that the DB's helmet ends up contacting the ball carrier's helmet. The DB wasn't "targeting" at all. It's ridiculous. They need to do something with this rule.

There's talk of instituting a less-than-game penalty for targeting calls that are borderline....
