Monumental FU. They are screwed.

I'd bet the gov't isn't firing up the engines if they haven't been reimbursed for the previous trips, per campaign finance rules.Grizalltheway wrote:Sure, in the same sense that he "had to pay" his contractors.Ibanez wrote: Doesn't Trump have to pay for those flights, about $180k/hr

Not politically motivated, but just a question here - who pays for the airfare of the Secret Service folks who are still assigned to former Presidents? I assume they have to be on the same plane of course.Ibanez wrote:Obama is getting free flights? That's a new one.AZGrizFan wrote:

I think that's obvious. Taxpayers foot the bill for the Secret Service folks. But Taxpayers are probably not paying for the airfare, in flight cocktails and meals for the candidate and anyone accompanying him outside of their protective detail.GannonFan wrote:Not politically motivated, but just a question here - who pays for the airfare of the Secret Service folks who are still assigned to former Presidents? Re: Army Cadets Severely Injure Air Force Falcon Mascot
Who do I think is paying for Obama to campaign? Probably the various campaigns and/or DNC. You honestly think it's all taxpayer funded travel? The biggest taxpayer outlay for a former POTUS is office space followed by their pension.AZGrizFan wrote:Who do you think is? Because it sure ain't the Obamas. A former POTUS does get taxpayer funded airfare (for lack of a better term) when their doing something in their capacity as a former, even then that number is capped and they can only fly with 2 staffers. Jet Setting to St. Kitts for vacation doesn't count. Because these people are getting speaking fees, appearance fees, attending something in their capacity as Former POTUS, they travel more times than not is paid be someone/something other than the taxpayer.
I would say, short of a conspiracy, any POTUS travelling for political purposes like a campaign, is having a large portion of that paid by the campaign, themselves or "donated" which is still a campaign contribution. Those rules apply for fundraising trips

Btw, The Carters and The Clintons are known to fly commercially.

I'm sure the Clintons have flown commercially at some point but the vast majority of their non-gov air travel is charter.Ibanez wrote:Who do I think is paying for Obama to campaign? The bird is going to be OK, thankfully.

Details on the actions of the Army geniuses:
https://gazette.com/military/west-point ... c471f.htmlThe New York Times reported Sunday that Aurora and Oblio, a peregrine falcon about seven years younger, were taken by two West Point cadets on Friday night.
The cadets threw sweaters over the birds, and later stuffed them into dog crates, Sam Dollar, the Air Force Academy’s falconry team adviser, told the newspaper. When the cadets returned the birds Saturday morning, Aurora had blood on her wings from abrasions likely caused by thrashing around in the crate, Dollar said.
“I think they had them for a couple hours and then they realized it was a bad mistake,” the Times quoted Dollar. “When Aurora started thrashing around in the crate, they decided that wasn’t a good thing.”
Aurora’s injuries have risen to the highest level at the military schools.
AFA spokeswoman Lt. Col. Tracy Bunko said AFA Superintendent Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria has been in contact with his counterpart at West Point, Lt. Gen. Darryl Williams.
Aurora was the grand dame of the school’s heralded falconry program, which includes a half-dozen birds managed by a dozen cadets.
Animal abuse, specifically to an animal on the government’s payroll, is a crime in the military. The crime of “abuse of a public animal” has been on the military’s books since the Army was founded, and has been used primarily to charge those who abused pack animals, such as mules and horses.
While Aurora is a mascot, the statute could apply, with a conviction potentially resulting in up to a year behind bars and a dishonorable discharge.

Re: Army Cadets Severely Injure Air Force Falcon Mascot
Aurora was being kept in the home of a volunteer sponsor, an Army colonel, as is customary whenever the Air Force team is on the road, Garnhart said.
I mean, really. Isn't this obvious to the most casual observer????

Trump has racked up more vacation expense in less than two years than Obama did in 8, but sure, blame the black guy.

The cadets who did it should be expelled or, at the very least, forced to muck out the cavalry stables for the rest of their miserble careers.

The guy who's going to be fucked here is the Colonel who was hosting the bird. I'm sure the Cadets didn't break in to his residence. I'm going to go with complicity for $200, Alex.

because we're competent and the keydeets know better
and keydats are more clever than the typical weiners who go to service academies
if you can't do something as simple as guarding a dumb animal in a cage maybe you shouldn't be responsible for multimillion dollar aircraft and things that go boom
