Delaware State (22-2 MEAC, 35-15-1) finished atop the standings in the northern division. The Hornets have won 17 of their last 18 games and will seek their first MEAC baseball title since 1989.

Although the conference tournament began yesterday, due to a weather delay our first game will be played today.

StonyBrook swept Maine today in a double header 5-1, 5-4. The Seawolves are now 41-11 and 19-3 in AE. Both teams play a double header on Saturday. StonyBrook already clinched the regular season title last week and will host the Ae Cahmpionship Tournament nest weekend. This is StonyBrooks second straight 40 win season and the Seawolves are in the top 10 in Div 1 in team batting average, fielding percentage and team ERA.

MEAC Baseball Championship Final

Bethune-Cookman (33-23) vs Delaware State (39-16)

Game 1: 9:00am
Game 2: 1:00pm (if necessary)

DSU lost to UMES in the tournament so we'll have to beat BCU twice to win the title. We can potentially have a 40 win season!

Delaware State wins Game 1 of the MEAC Championship Round 3-2 over Bethune-Cookman. Since we were in the loser's bracket, we'll have to beat them again to win the title. Game 2 scheduled to begin at 12:30pm in Norfolk.

DSU falls to Bethune-Cookman in Game 2 by a final score of 8-3.

The Hornets had a 3-1 lead in the 3rd before giving it up in the bottom of that inning and BCU scoring the go-ahead run in the 6th. Delaware State finishes the season with 40 wins, tying a school record for wins in a single season (2002).

As noted elsewhere, Fresneck won two straight against Sac to win the WAC title. A couple of short bursts of bad pitching from an otherwise excellent young staff did us in. The experience should benefit the team in the future.

Coastal Carolina (41-17) will be making its 11th NCAA Regional appearance in the last 12 years, including a streak of six straight. The Chanticleers defeated Clemson (33-26) earlier this season, 10-7, in Clemson despite making five errors in the game - four of which came in the sixth inning.

In addition to meeting annually during the regular season, Coastal and Clemson have met in the 2007 Myrtle Beach Regional and 2011 Clemson Regional. Including Coastal's win on April 24, Clemson owns a 40-8 advantage in the series.

The Chanticleers and Gamecocks of South Carolina last met in the 2010 Myrtle Beach Regional. South Carolina claimed a pair of one-run victories, 4-3 and 10-9, to advance to the College World Series and win the first of its two national titles.
Friday, 12pm No. 2 Clemson v.s. No. 3 Coastal Carolina.

StonyBrook improved to 47-11 tonight knocking off the Miami Hurricanes 10-2. Great hitting (11) and superb pitching took the wind out of the Hurricanes. The Seawolves now move to the winners bracket and face UCF Saturday. :notworthy:
