St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter said most of the arrests made last night were of people from out of state and while “there’s a group of folks that are sad and mourning,” he said “there seems to be another group that are using Mr. Floyd’s death as a cover to create havoc.”

Department of Safety Commissioner John Harrington said they are contact-tracing the arrested and added that an investigation is underway about white nationalist groups posting online to encourage their members to use the protests as a cover to create chaos.

He said some of the 40 arrests made in the Twin Cities Friday night were of people linked to white supremacist groups and organized crime.

It seems the chatter about plateless cars driving around the Minneapolis riots — allegedly there to instigate violence — has been confirmed.

Reports of vehicles without license plates have been circulating for days, raising concerns about "outside instigators" as well as rumors of white supremacists and other bad-faith actors intent on causing trouble:

There was ZERO reason to shoot a gas canister at them, besides a power-trip fantasy the cops can jerk off to later that night. While not as serious as murder, cops acting as extrajudicial arbiters is the reason black people (and minorities) are completely fed up.

All the cops involved should be immediately fired and fully prosecuted for assault.

A lot of people looting and damaging private business/residences are doing it for selfish reasons, not the interests of the protest. And in LA there's a video circulating of cops leaving an old cruiser behind during a peaceful protest...and then possibly burning it themselves.

Of course this constant highlight of looting is a great right-wing tactic to avoid the actual issue at hand and demonize those who fight for equality. They also avoid talking about the cops instigating violence, or the protestors who clean, help fix damage, and donate to those affected.

So where’s the justice for the cops that were brutally beat last night? My sister is taking care of the one in Charleston. Beaten for being a cop. That’s not how you get progress.

That’s how you get anarchy and confirm the suspicions of people that are already upset over the violence.
