Flu deaths this year?

Post by grizzaholic »

Has anyone died from the FLU this year yet?

In other news, nobody has died in car accidents in 2020 either, but guns are still loading themselves and killing people.

It was the second worse flu season in the last decade: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm

Flu season usually peaks between December and February, so it was already on the down slope before Covid-19 exploded here.

There's a graph in there showing mortality rate due to influenza/pneumonia was on track with the seasonal baseline, then it makes an insane jump at the tail end. That's obviously due to pneumonia associated with Covid-19.

Does anyone know anyone that has died from the flu? I don't, so just asking.

No. But I don’t know anybody who’s died from the Chinese thing either.

All we need now is for JSO to add Trump to this thread.

Didn't know him personally, but my coworker's father died from Covid-19 (might have been one of the earliest MD deaths). He wasn't at his death bed, but he was battling cancer when he contracted the virus so his immune system had been compromised.

We had a coworker in the hospital for 2 weeks this past month in ICU and on a ventilator...

...but he tested negative and is back home. Have to think it was a false negative as the doctors had no idea what it was.

Former neighbor of mine just 2 weeks ago. She was 94 in a nursing home. Like everyone has been saying since this started the long term care facilities are where the #1 problem lies.
