Eliminating federal social safety nets is a really really bad idea

Lifting up the middle class and kindness payback strategies don't impress Wall Street

Hanauer is talking to people who are living the control portion of the Stanford Prison Experiment in real time

What prevents the Russian leadership from getting hanged in the streets, then?

Are you seriously asking me what a brutal dictatorship does to maintain control..?
and if you even try to explain how Putin is not running a brutal dictatorship you lose 99%
of what little credibility you have

But where is this conservatism you speak of..?

Tax breaks that have been proven already to increase the deficit
including just flat out - out spending the Liberal previous administration

When do we actually "get" a Conservative that spends less than his Liberal predecessor ?
Can you show me an actual example of a conservative administration that decreased spending

:geek:

I ask and i ask...
and nobody can ever show me a conservative in practice (only in principal) never in practice
Well if they don’t, then they aren’t really conservative, are they?

And any true conservative knows that tax cuts without spending cuts don’t do anything (beneficial)

So if your question is specific, the answer is “only maybe 3-4 people currently in Congress”

I’d run for Congress if a) I thought I could win, b) didn’t have anything better to do and c) thought it would matter

Conservatism is all fine and good for politicians right up to the point where your opponents hit you with “support the military” and “push servicemembers off the cliff” and then they cave on spending cuts. Every time

AZ inadvertently explains everything you need to know about the problem
Our American political system has legalized corporate profit management tactics
it's now conveniently built into the system

So, like all of the previously mentioned "Cruelty Experiments"
where those in control exhibit verifiable human tendencies to extricate every last drop

We have AZ chiming in right on queue
to ask what does Russia do?
and then also perfectly point out creating strife and poverty is perfectly legal

I never said anything about a brutal dictatorship (or the lack of one). Merely asked a question. You answer with your usual smugness. Right on cue.

But, given human nature (which we all agree is deeply flawed), if the only two solutions to controlling the masses are a brutal dictatorship or welfare programs to keep from getting hanged in the street, I'll take welfare programs for $1,000, Alex. :coffee: :coffee:

Yep. We’re on the same page.
Really a person just ends up sounding like Noam Chomsky when you play it all the way out...
And Noam (Like Coscto) has been relegated to the recycle bin of "things better to be ignored"

So here we go...
The Corporate design is built perfectly in this regard
Because firstly - creating poverty among the ranks of your own employees isn't a crime (as AZ noted)
and in fact its so morally ambiguous and detached it can be defended as the right thing to do

Psychologically speaking
There have been dozens of experiments that are structured much like a Corporate Board
and without fail humans (good honest folks) grow to become emotionally detached from the subjects

So Boards presented with numbers over and over again
The numbers become the most important thing... and Wall Street verifies that conclusion
and the humans that represent the employee base
become an expense and a problem

you can make it more complicated than that -- but it's not

America
The End...

:coffee:

Also: Were I on a Board I would behave identically
This isn't some kind of indictment against rich people - it's an indictment against corporate design
Its perfectly designed to create distance and ambiguity
and Wall Street acts as the motivator reward system

Its absolutely perfect
perfectly good people stand no chance - see any cruelty experiment
Perfectly good people do horrible things if properly detached and motivated

again:
These are perfectly good people on these boards... grandma's and fathers and brothers (real humans)

Hey, fuckstick: Quit putting words into my mouth that I never said. Please point out exactly where I "noted" that creating poverty among the ranks of your employees isn't a crime. Go ahead, I'll wait.

You're not very good at this, are you?

How in the fuck do you connect “not all CFO’s are crooks” to “impoverishing one’s employee base isn’t a crime”? That is a leap that even Evel Kneivel wouldn’t attempt...

You entertain me !

a) The CFO's dangling from light posts comment that I made
b) caused you to respond with not all CFO's are crooks
c) that caused me to say impoverishing ones employee base isn't a crime

is not a leap

Being "criminals" isn't really what's going to get CFO's hung in the streets
Taking a $20 million dollar bonus while reducing employee benefits is perfectly legal
and THAT is the kind of behavior that's going to get CFO's dangling from light posts

But hey, not all CFO's are crooks
