OK guys, you take take this FWIW. I'm not sure how many of you know people who directly know either Ford or Kavanaugh. I talked to no less than seven people today who directly know one or the other. It's the same story over and over and over. Kavanaugh is described as the cleanest guy you've ever met. Seems like he's known for a long time that he wanted this path and lived the path that would get him here. Ford on the other hand had a reputation of being a VERY promiscuous girl in HS. I've heard stories just today that would make you doubt anything she had to say. These were from people that do not like Trump at all. That aren't staunch conservatives.

Based on the first person accounts I've heard, this is a political witch hunt. Period. End of story.

He probably is a great guy when he isn't snot-slinging drunk a waving his pecker around.


If he'd come out and said "I was 17 and I was shit-faced and and I fucked up and I'm sorry", he would have had an easier path. Now he won't be able to show his face in public without a crowd gathering to jeer him. And if the Ds take both houses they can revisit the issues and try to regain the public's rapidly-dwindling confidence that the SCOTUS wasn't as crooked as the other branches. I think there's quite a few of you who are underestimating how pissed off the women are this time.

I think there's also quite a few of us who understand that baseless allegations from 35 years ago do not make a person guilty.

Private - Free to do whatever they want, but if they expect any federal funding for their students, the demographics should reflect the national make-up based on the last census (within a tolerance).

Public - No admission standards. A public University, community college, or technical school should serve the public good and not be exclusive; anyone who is willing to learn deserves an education at the institution of their choice in whatever program(s) they choose.

That said, I believe in controls. For example, students with <2.0 GPAs in HS start on academic probation and must receive at least a 2.5 the first semester or get expelled, and a 2.5 in their first overall year.

Just wondering MJ, have you been following the story of the Asian-Americans suing Harvard? Basically, Harvard was able to lower the number of Asians admitted by concocting a personality inventory that was supposed to measure things like likeability and courage, which Asians scored lower on. Basically Harvard is in a position where they have to stand by their admissions policy and admit they think a non-white ethnic group has issues with personality (which would never be acceptable in the minds of diversity cult in any other context) or admit they're basically rigging their "holistic admissions" to get the outcome they want (e.g. illegal quotas ). Anyone with a brain knows it's the latter, and anyone who doesn't think this goes on in many other institutions is deluded.

Affirmative action is the moronic notion that a black person from the suburbs should get priority admission over a poor white guy from the sticks because slavery....and we'll justify it legally by saying it's done to achieve diversity by using skin color as a proxy for who someone is while preaching it's bad to make a priori judgements of people based on skin color.

That's a swell answer but not everyone gets into every school to which they apply. Some people get in with identical academic profiles as others who do not. As a matter of fact, some people get in with inferior academic profiles. I've seen this first hand. I asked which had the better chance.

He was a great choice. The Dims have been trying to destroy an innocent man, who has hundreds of women supporting him. Each day this charade goes on the GOP approval rating rise. This will come back to bite the libs in the arse.

That's the thing, I think this is rebounding against the Dems. The first accuser is certainly credible, but not likely to be enough to keep him from the bench. But the second accuser comes off as a contrived fabrication just to say there's a second accuser. And on top of that, you have the porn star's lawyer jumping in with more salacious claims, none of which sound true at all. The old guard like Feinstein have looked awful in this whole thing, and at the end of this Kavanaugh is still likely to be confirmed. There will have to be a lot more evidence before he's ever indicted for something in Maryland, and impeachment without a really damning criminal indictment is too much of a hurdle to consider it likely. If after all of this he's still confirmed the Dems will be pointing fingers at each other as to how this could've happened the way it did.

Personally, I never liked the Kavanaugh pick - I would've gone with the woman out of Notre Dame. But she might be the next nominee.
