IMO, Murkowski took the cowards way out. She pubically states he’s not a good choice but doesn’t vote “no”.

As you know, Trump will pull the ultimate troll move and nominate Coney Barrett to file Ginsburg's seat, if het gets the chance.

Then the Resistance Movement will go into full tilt and basically attack her on her religion.

It will get ugly and it will be just the kind of stuff needed to keep voters in the red states coming to the polls.

It was a paired vote with Republican Senator Daines so that he could be at his daughter's wedding.

Hey to all the loons....

There is no statute of limitations on rape (or the attempt) in Maryland

She can now go file a police report with the Montgomery County Po-Po and get her case fully investigated

I'm sure her Dem-appointed lawyers are jumping right on that as we speak... AMIRITE?

There is currently no statute of limitations on attempted rape.

In 1982 - attempted rape was a misdemeanor and had a 1 year statute of limitations.
The charge of attempted rape was considered a misdemeanor at the time. As a misdemeanor, the offense carried a one-year statute of limitations, meaning charges would have had to be filed within a year of an incident, according to John McCarthy, Montgomery County’s longtime chief prosecutor. Lisae C. Jordan, the executive director and counsel for the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and other longtime Maryland lawyers interviewed in recent days concurred.

The Maryland legislature changed the law in 1996, making attempted rape a felony and removing the statute of limitations, according to McCarthy and Jordan.

BTW I think it's obvious that Kavanaugh showed he was willing to lie. That's because he kept saying that his drinking beer in high school was legal. It was not. See https://www.businessinsider.com/marylan ... ool-2018-9 and you can find a lot of other articles on it.

My wife actually asked me if it's possible that he didn't KNOW it was illegal for him to drink in high school. She explained that she never did it so she didn't know. I told her I DID drink illegally in high school and there is no way you would be doing it without knowing about it because the fact that it is illegal means you have to come up with strategies for getting alcoholic beverages when it's not legal for you to buy them. Fake IDs. Getting someone older to buy it for you. That sort of thing.

The guy clearly and unequivocally showed that he was willing to lie in order to get confirmed when he came up with that "it was legal at the time" nonsense. This is not the sort of thing that is reasonably debatable.

Lots and lots of people turned 18 in HS back in the day. Hell, some even turned 19 while still in school. It’s entirely plausible (and I haven’t looked at the timeline and couldnt’ give two shits, so save yourself the effort) for someone to drink legally while still in HS.

The point is that Maryland increased the drinking age to 21 when Kavanaugh was 17. There is no way he didn't know he wasn't legal drinking age. The idea that someone could THINK they were of legal drinking age during high school when they weren't is ridiculous. He lied. The whole mess of the last few weeks that is the clearest and most certain example of one of the two major players lying.

I don't know why he found it necessary to say several times that it was legal at the time. But he did. And there is no way someone who was drinking repeatedly while not of legal age would not realize they were not of legal age.

Whether any particular person cares about him lying about that is another matter. But he was lying about that.

BTW that was the clearly demonstrable instance in which he lied. There are also substantial indications that he lied about his drinking behavior based on accounts offered by his college room mate and other people that attended Yale when he did. The thing wasn't about drinking. But the point is that the buy showed that he was willing to attempt to mislead and deceive about his past. Under such circumstances him denying the allegation meant nothing. He clearly showed that it's likely that if it DID happen he'd lie about it.

Yes this one event is over. What is not over is the overwhelming majority of conservatives/republicans suspending their critical thinking skills in order to justify supporting what's been going on recently as the already completely corrupt Republican Party continues to descend further into a morass of operating through misinformation and intellectual dishonesty.

You didn't read your article too well, did you?

Or you cherry picked it. .... which one is it?

There is no statute of limitations on assault with intent to commit rape in the state of MD, nor was there one in the 1980s
