Just sums up the awful attitude of the vast majority of partisans on both sides of the aisle, conks and donks alike. We get the politics we deserve - the author seems to think that Trump came out of nowhere and caused a change in our politics, when in reality, Trump is simply the by-product of our politics. We've been painting the other side in politics, for at least two decades now, as evil, deplorable, sub-human, pigs, etc. Both sides will ignore the warts on their side of the aisle as they are committed to crushing the other side. In the end, nothing gets accomplished. The last line in the article best sums it up - no one wants to get anything done, that would get in the way of the smugness of believing (right or wrong) that you're absolutely correct on everything and the other side is absolutely wrong on every thing. For shame on all such partisans, and this board has quite a few of these folks.

A pair of Democratic lawmakers are introducing legislation to require a background check for all firearm ammunition sales.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said on Monday they had introduced the bill, known as the Ammunition Background Check Act of 2018, arguing it would help close a "loophole" in the current law.

"Ammunition sales should be subject to the same legal requirements as firearm sales, and that includes instant background checks. ... Closing this ludicrous loophole is a common-sense component of a comprehensive strategy to reduce gun violence," Blumenthal said.

Wasserman Schultz added that it is "common-sense legislation" that would close an "absurd loophole."
