That's what the company I worked for did. Voted for a non-union plant with 80% against, twice (in Illinois!). Tears were shed, the quality of the work force praised to the heavens, pledges of loyalty... the beauty of our system... Less than two years later they were gone to Mexico. Because things have changed.

SC bought themselves a few years, maybe, but final assembly will be done in China eventually. :coffee:
Actually, no, it won’t.

The aerospace industry is limited by tech transfer rules - certain foreign nationals can’t even get US visas to study in many aerospace fields

And those rules are being strengthened by the day... the latest hard lesson was learned with all of the tech theft that has happened from Apple and others

I’m sure you’ll have some glib reply - but the reality is that even if every piece of a 787 is manufactured in the US it won’t matter... because the assembly processes are proprietary.

Maybe when Hillary is President.. oh wait
Who calls the shots, Congress or their bosses? :coffee:

All that said ^ Boeing will be slowly leaving Washington... They've already said they won't pay to stay
And Washington has said the free ride is over

The writing is already spray painted on the overpass heading out of town (so to speak)

SC needs to be careful
Boeing execs aren't going to start wanting to pay taxes just because they love the Kudzu and pork sandwiches

Right on time with the glib reply

BTW one of the biggest "legal" transfers of proprietary technology to China was done by the White House

Who needs Congress when you have a President?

I've been called a lot of things... but that might be my favorite (note to self)
and I'll be in Iceland and Scotland next week
Of course they don't have elephants, Spicy Food and brown people
so it doesn't qualify as worldly to my Seattle friends and CID

I'm actually going to miss the Super Bowl
My return flight is on Super Bowl Sunday

Well you'll blend right in there. They are all pasty, especially in Scotland

I assume you are taking the free, lengthy layover in Reykjavik on Iceland Air, enroute to Glasgow? (A brilliant idea by Iceland Air, BTW)

You've clearly gone out of your mind and don't know what you're talking about. Let me know when you're back in Charleston. We'll go to Scott's BBQ so that you can be redeemed.

I'm happy we can agree. Same offer for Scott's BBQ if you ever find yourself in Charleston. :thumb:

Iceland is on my bucket list. I have a cousin that goes once or twice a year. She's actually made friends in Reykjavik and now has a free place to stay. :thumb:

I am fully familiar with the swill they call BBQ in SC. I actually consumed it from time to time, since I lived there for 27 years

But just as in 1860, SC likes to think it is the center of the universe when in reality it is a lunatic asylum with one way glass looking in.

As evidenced in your obviously delusional idea that SC “BBQ” is even in the same universe as NC BBQ. That’s flat earth talk, right there

The delusional idea is matched by yours that NC is any better. These are fighting words!

You must've been eating at the wrong places, like Bessingers or Home Team. :ohno: Nobody ever walked away from Dukes, Sweatmans, Prossers, Scotts, etc.. and said it was "swill".

I've yet to find good, SC BBQ in the upstate. The Dixie Pig is ok. I can grant you that.

I've had good and bad NC BBQ - of the nearest to me, Bridges is the best.

Put me in the NC camp. Both Eastern and Western is better than the mustard-heavy SC BBQ.
