I can't imagine this new rule effecting all fed workers for past years. It's just how it works. You're under contract, ex post facto and some such shit.
No raise in 12years? :suspicious:

As expected: If it happens the Republicans will be blamed for it.

I actually don't know if that's fair. But it's how it always works.

Got a text from my boss a half hour ago to log in and check email. Shutdown instructions were sent. As long as I can log in on Monday morning I can avoid a trip to DC. HR is supposed to send us furlough letters than can be signed remotely. Then we close out everything we handle and set up out of offices. We have four hours to do it. Then I'm unemployed. Woot!

I hope it shuts down and never comes back. All businesses in the USA should choose right now to not pay taxes anymore. They can't prosecute everyone and nobody will prosecute if they are not getting paid.

Take back the country now

They keep talking about another CR over the weekend and I'm all, "NO, NO, NO!!!!"

I want them to pass the budget on Monday afternoon. I have my biweekly workload meeting with my boss on Monday morning, and I'd love to dodge it.

The Democrats shut the government down again. That's the objective truth. The overwhelming majority of Republicans voted for a CR to keep it running. The overwhelming majority of Democrats voted against it. And they did it because of something not related to spending.

Like I said earlier, it's like this every time. The Democrats take the action to shut the government down. But if past is prologue the Republicans will be blamed for it. And there are indications that past will be prologue.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... 6b447a466d
By a 20-point margin, more Americans blame President Trump and Republicans rather than Democrats for a potential government shutdown, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

A 48 percent plurality says Trump and congressional Republicans are mainly responsible for the situation resulting from disagreements over immigration laws and border security, while 28 percent fault Democrats.
We'll see if that holds over time. If it does, it'll be about time for Republicans to learn that if there is a government shutdown they will be blamed no matter what.

BTW watching TV today I saw a reference to a shut down problem I'd not heard of before. The story was that the shut down means mortgage applications can't be processed. I Googled it just now and got this:

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/04/21/governm ... locks.html

That's kind of a big economic deal.

I know that I'm supposed to care...
I know that the prevailing attitude is "government shut down is bad"
and life as we know it will cease to exist

and yet... I don't care

The good thing was they waited until the end of a pay period to shut down, so I’ll get paid on the 26th. Next payday after that is Feb 9th, so as long as they get something worked out by then and it includes backpay, I’m cool with it!

One good thing is that I saw no indication that the Federal Refuge I like to go fishing at this time of year is closed. I looked at various USFWS web sites to see if I could see any closure announcements and didn't see any. Drove out there yesterday to see. The gate at the front of the road back to where I like to launch my kayak was open. I drove to the back and there were a couple of other trucks there with people fishing off the bank. Didn't launch because I'd been there Friday and nothing was hitting but I took a few casts off the bank. As I was leaving another truck was coming in. If it's closed they're not doing anything to keep people out.
