California NAACP seeks to remove 'Star-Spangled Banner' as national anthem

California's NAACP is pushing for state lawmakers to support a campaign to remove “The Star Spangled Banner” as the country's national anthem. The group says the song, which has been a point of controversy in the NFL, is “one of the most racist, pro-slavery, anti-black songs in the American lexicon,”

What exactly is the racist part? The more people keep giving in, the more they will take.

Why ask me? I have never been, will never go, and if I had cancer/Aids/etc and a visitation to California would cure me, I wouldn't go.

Fuck that shit hole.

The third verse (i.e. so something no one ever hears) has a single line referring to fugitive slaves. And because the guy that wrote the words was a slaveholder at some point in his life. Nothing to get worried about.

It's the same as the first...

Just last night
I was reminded of
Just how bad it had gotten, and
Just how sick
I had become

I've been in California a few times and found it to be quite pleasant. Nice people, great climate, cool and diverse geography. I have friends both liberal and conservative who've lived there for a long time and show no signs of wanting to leave. It can't be all that bad, can it?

I imported my wife from California. Had to put her through a pretty drastic "conditioning" course upon arrival in Montana but she passes as a native now!
