Sounds like he was trying to blow up two jet fuel tanks across the street from the festival.

Fuel tanks like that in the open are very very dangerous, we should probably ban fossil fuels.................

93 hit it out if the park when he commented on how bad a shot this guy was. 23 guns in the room.....if he launched 60 rounds out of each of them that's 1380 rounds.

He only killed 58.

This almost shouldn't be a news story unless they are making fun of how bad this guy shoots. Pathetic

I don't think he was really aiming at individual targets. It seems like he was just pointing into the crowd an firing. At the range he was at nobody is going to be very accurate at that rate of fire.

I’ve often thought about the safety of those tanks. A 50 caliber round can easily penetrate 10 or 12 gauge steel, and likely both sheets in a double walled tank. Luckily in this case, in was a jet fuel tank. Jet A is not that much different from diesel fuel, and both have very high flash points that don’t respond to sparking.

I’m much more concerned about propane and lp storage. Those tanks could most definitely be used at secondary weapons in a scenario like this.

Yep. If the guy fired around 1400 rounds in about 10 min and hit about 580 people, killing 59 (60 deceased now- 59 + shooter) and 527? wounded that's about a 40+% hit rate from around 400 yards. Sure if he had been shooting semi auto using the scopes or even just iron sights he could have had way more accuracy wih a higher % hit rate, and maybe more killed, but way less lead down range in 10 min, and way less people overall hit. This guy now holds what I assume has to be the world record in people shot by 1 shooter in one setting (maybe not for the # killed, I don't know), and that's going to be hard to top. Heck, even someone with a SAW and 1400 rounds (or however many rounds this got got off) would have a hard time hitting that many people from that distance in 10 min..

Timeline released last night by Clark County Sheriff's Dept:

"10:05 p.m.: First shots fired by the suspect. This was seen on closed-circuit television from the concert venue.

10:12 p.m.: First two officers arrive on the 31st floor and announce the gunfire is coming from directly above them.

10:15 p.m.: The last shots are fired from the suspect per body-worn cameras.

10:17 p.m.: The first two officers arrive on the 32nd floor.

10:18 p.m.: Security officer tells LVMPD officers he was shot and gives exact location of the suspect's room.

10:26-10:30 p.m.: Eight additional officers arrive on the 32nd floor and begin to move systematically down the hallway, clearing every room and looking for any injured people. They move this way because they no longer hear the gunfire of an active shooter.

10:55 p.m.: Eight officers arrive in the stairwell at the opposite end of the hallway nearest to the suspect's room.

11:20 p.m.: The first breach is set off and officers enter the room. They observe the suspect down on the ground and also see a second door that could not be accessed from their position.

11:27 p.m.: The second breach is set off, allowing officers to access the second room. Officers quickly realize there is no one else in the rooms and announce over the radio that the suspect is down."

I carried the SAW quite a bit. I would have beaten him, especially with two barrels and 20% tracers. Work outside in. Pile up the bodies at the egresses. Would have been a big pile of hamburger. If you had a buddy with the same and could run talking guns, whew baby.

But, this guy did good work with the tools he had. Sick work, but proficient nonetheless.

I think a lot of gun enthusiasts have purchase fatigue from the past nine years. Obama was the best gun salesman of all time.

Moreso than any mass shooting, the next yuge gun splurge will be when/if the dems ever win back a majority in Congress. That Nov-Jan buying spree will be nuts.
