It's a great quote and all from Pop, but it implies that there are places, countries, that aren't racists and that we're somehow spectacular in this regard. I'm not sure there's any country on this planet that doesn't have a degree of racism inherent in its culture. We're actually unique (although not alone) in the extent that we have such large minority populations - there are many countries that have worked racism so much more extensively than we have that they don't really have minority populations. Doesn't excuse the terrible racism we have in our country, but it does put it in a little perspective.

Except we really don't know about the validity of those images in terms of actually representing the staffing at those organizations. In fact because I listen to NPR I know that is not a visual representation of NPR staffing. The others I don't know. But that's not a "representative" photo of NPR staffing.

I'm the same as I ever was. Frankly I don't think organizations ought to have to worry about meeting some kind of "diversity" standard. But NPR does worry about it. Here's one of their reports:
