I think Reagan was a positive force for them though. Trump is not. The Trump thing is destroying the credibility of the Republican Party in particular and the Conservative Movement in general.

I don't like saying that because I am a Conservative. But it's the truth.
You saying you are a conservative is like Stormy Daniels saying she is a Broadway Actress, or like Brigham Young saying he was a Lutheran, or like Kalm saying he is a conservative.

I remember when JSO was the conservative voice here while everyone pretended to be a libertarian.

And when 2016 came, he was labeled a closet-liberal despite never changing his stance on anything. Ever.

"Please God deliver me from your followers"

the road to perdition for nations all through history has been paved by righteous causes like yours .... you are no better (or different) than some backwards Mississippi baptist preacher - completely convinced of the righteousness of your belief system with no view of the consequences for others when you get what you want

Both the Republican and Democratic parties are poison and ideologues like you are grease for their rails

I don't tend to believe politicians in general. Follow the money, they will change their stance on a dime, if the money is there.

'Noe, I just want you to follow the laws and the constitution. No where in that document is there any mention of cradle to grave robbery to make things equal. If you think that is a good thing you cant have any self esteem and need to go to a place more suiting to your political ideals. (Russia, Cuba, China, No Korea, Venezuela etc)

Anyways, my economic opinions might be an outlier here but it's certainly representative of a large swath of Americans (this place is also a poor representation of the nation's demographic). More than anything, it's been shaped by the great recession, the War on Terror, the opinions of my friends, the liberal views of where I've grown up, seeing the excesses of rich people (including liberals), and what I've seen from volunteer work.

And honestly, I don't think it's some crazy opinion to want to tax richer people and companies at a higher rate, significantly reduce the defense budget, and invest into infrastructure, renewable energy, education, and healthcare. The rich will still be rich, but a little less so; I'm not advocating that we take 500K from a millionaire to give to the bum who won't get off his couch.
That is already being done, while close to half have zero income tax liability. The US doesnt have a revenue problem. It has a spending problem.
I agree on reduce the defense budget significantly (through overseas base closures & fixing the procurement system, which is probably a pipe dream).
You know, I really hate agreeing with you.

The US takes in a lot of money and wastes it. Neither side wants to fix that because it means there’s less money for the Congressman Schmuck Overpass in Bumbleuck, Alabama to be paid with federal funds or some study to research the uses of oak trees.

I'm only going to say this 100 more times...
The American Political infrastructure does not have a Revenue Problem
It has a Spending Problem

The end...
