Literally saving souls, one porn star at a time... :thumb:

Good read.

“It is preposterous to assert that a virtuous believer like Mr. Trump would cheat on his beautiful wife so callously, and while their child was only months old,” a solemn Bakker said into the camera as colorful balloons provided a backdrop for some reason. “He was so concerned with the eternal state of Miss Daniels’ soul that he scheduled some alone time with just the two of them, so he could share with her how Jesus Christ had changed his life and how He could also save her from her sins.”

Hah!

In my defense, I am from NC and know all about Jim Bakker... and that's why this is such good satire...

The company will give at least $500 worth of Starbucks stock in April to employees at stores, support centers or bean roasting plants. Store managers will get $2,000 in stock grants. Those amounts are on top of what those workers were already going to receive this year, the Seattle-based company said.
https://www.seattletimes.com/business/s ... o-tax-law/
Verizon Communications Inc. said it will give employees 50 shares of stock each, a $380 million bonus that the company said is the result of federal tax reform.

The share grant, which will vest over two years, will be available to all of the company’s employees, with the exception of about 2,500 senior executives, a Verizon spokesman said Tuesday. Part-time employees will get 25 shares.

With the stock currently trading at about $53, the award amounts to more than $2,600 per worker. Verizon employed 155,400 workers at the end of the fourth quarter with about 153,000 eligible for the grant, the company said. CNBC reported on the news earlier Tuesday.

Not me. I'd rather take the cash, and if I wanted to invest it, I'd want to invest it in companies of my choice.
Starbucks stock has been essentially flat over the last 2-1/2 years. Verizon is still about 12% lower than it's 1999 high and flat for the last 5 years.

Good point. I think for the average Starbucks employee - stock could be a decent investment.

It's an interesting move by the companies. If the shares are locked up for a period of time, it may incentivize employees to stay with the company, which helps the company in a low unemployment environment. However, If this creates more outstanding shares on the market, it dilutes the stock and reduces the value of the stock. It will be interesting to see how this works out. I would still rather have the cash.

That has to be fake. Look, I'm no Trump fan and I'm really down on WECs for supporting him. But that is just too much. That can't be real.

That’s cool but much of this news fails to mention the simultaneous layoffs occurring with some of these companies. Not to mention that the vast majority of the savings goes to executive compensation and shareholders.

Nope, neither post hurt at all. Just surprised that you'd be surprised that most of any savings would go to those who make the most or to the shareholders. To think it should all be passed to the front line is very noble of you.
