Guaranteed Student Loans. That's become a huge donk rallying cry about how government should "forgive" those loans. #'s as high as $500 billion in bailout...

Got it. So I would get to pay for somebodies bad decision making. :ohno: How about just not taking out a loan that you have no ability to repay.

If this bubble bursts, I’d love to see what the government will do to bail out itself and the #1 lender (Nelnet and Great Lakes merged and now handle close to 50% of all student loans). That’s something like $440B (including private student loans). I’m with you, the next recession will be on our backs. Doing what our parents and schools, who were supposed to know best, told us to do.

It makes you wonder how our economy would be if money was still based on something like gold instead of “full faith and credit.”

I’m shocked a “Mr.Robot” hasn’t tried to take down the student loan industry.

It’s not “if” this bubble bursts....it’s “when”. And it was completely avoidable. :ohno:

I'm so tired of seeing 20 somethings who have hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan debts. It's awful to see so many people feel it's their right to go to any school they want regardless of cost. Reminds me of people who don't understand credit cards. More folks are finally catching on to CC's, hopefully they do the same with student loans. I had one person come for a mortgage with almost $400k in student loans and they were working for a non-profit earning >$50k. :dunce:

in 2007 you could have gotten them approved and made a couple points off them...

Now they can't get a loan at all - and nobody can fuck the system over

Yup. There were many lenders who abused the system. Many of them associated with builders. Last time I checked my default rate was still zero. :thumb:

Yup. I'm sure you've seen it too Z. I have a couple buying right now that have two car payments both over $750 a month on small pension income. Why people think they deserve to drive a car that's the same price as one year income is beyond me.
