Happened to hear this yesterday and decided to post it because we'd had some discussion of how hurricanes ranked in the past. Here's the latest list of the costliest tropical cyclones in US history:

For all United States hurricanes, Katrina (2005) is the costliest storm on record. Hurricane
Harvey (2017) ranks second, Hurricane Maria (2017) ranks third, Hurricane Sandy (2012)
ranks fourth and Hurricane Irma (2017) ranks fifth. Hurricane Maria is the costliest
hurricane on record to strike Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands.

Katrina and Harvey are tied at $125 billion if you don't adjust for inflation. But when you adjust for inflation by putting the cost of each in terms of 2017 dollars Katrina costs $160 billion to Harvey's $125 billion.

That actually surprises me. I've always felt that Katrina was a much more difficult situation to respond to because of the utter destruction involved. But I'd have thought Harvey would cost more just because it had widespread effects in a very highly populated area.

It might be a bit of a stretch but meh...it was two paragraphs in a long article. DOJ released a report and there's a lack of interest involving the feds further for oversight. Not exactly a hit piece and I'd say that police department has indeed at times resembled the gangs they battle.

I have no idea what to make of this. You put on a bikini when you really have no business wearing one (I have no business in a speedo) and then get upset when people make comments on your body?

This is similar to a video I watched yesterday of a pride parade with tons of guys walking around in assless chaps, banana hammocks, etc... and making comments that people should be more accepting of the LBGTQXRVLM community. I have no issue with who somebody loves, but parade around in that shit in a public parade, I don't give a shit what you're parading for, you are an idiot.
