Fuck off. This one hit close to home. A very good friend of mine (who's no longer with us as she passed away from breast cancer), covered the Cardinals and the Broncos superbly for over 10 years. She knew more about football (and could kick your ass on the golf course) than you will EVER know. Football knowledge doesn't require a penis. It requires a brain. Both of you can take your sexist, racist asses back to the 50's.BDKJMU wrote:The problem is allowing people who've never worn a jock strap, shoulder pads and a helmet to ask their stupid questions..Newton is 100% right..Pwns wrote:http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2737 ... ng-comment

You ever take a shot at Pam Ward when she used to do FCS games on TV? AGS used to make a sport out of mocking her back then. I think she's a pretty decent announcer for games, not a great one.
This beat writer, on the other hand, just sounds like she's using buzz words to sound smart. What the heck is "physicality" in receiver routes? That doesn't even make sense.

In which case there is limited contact, unless you want a holding or PI penalty. No one ever uses "physical" in the context of route-running. Maybe with blocking or carrying the ball after the catch.Grizalltheway wrote:Receivers are generally covered by a defensive back on a route.Pwns wrote:

Everybody needs to lighten the hell up. This shouldn't even be a news story. Cam was essentially thinking out loud. Peoples' INTENT doesn't count for anything anymore. I'm sure he didn't intend to be insulting or unfriendly. But even if he WAS, the reporter needs to buck up and get a thicker skin. It's fine if she was irritated by it... say something to him - fine. Sure kalm, but no one really considers what receivers the very limited contact receivers and DBs can have before the catch to be physicality.kalm wrote:There's a whole bunch of hand fighting and leveraging with the body to get inside position or create separation off the ball. Google "physicality wide receiver".

If he said this to her while off the record with her not doing her job, sure, maybe it should be brushed off. But I have no problem calling out sexism or racism in the workplace if it happens. Cam went over the line and said something that shouldn't be tolerated in this day and age. Should he be crucified for it? No. Although an apology would've been nice, which apparently was not offered. I don't have any daughters but I sure as heck tell my boys that assuming someone is incapable of doing a job based on their gender isn't cool and shouldn't happen in this day and age. It doesn't cost us anything to be civil and respectful to people while in the workplace. You want to be sexist and racist, then do it on your own time. No law against that.CID1990 wrote:Everybody needs to lighten the hell up. This shouldn't even be a news story. Cam was essentially thinking out loud. Z nailed this. I have no problem with someone taking a shot at a reporter because of the quality of their reporting. I do it all of the time but the criticism used earlier in this thread ("humorless cunt beat writer" and "never worn a jock strap, shoulder pads and a helmet to ask their stupid questions") focused on her gender not her skill as a reporter.Pwns wrote:Oh cool it, Z.AZGrizFan wrote:

And yes the contest between receiver and defensive back can get physical. The DB can jam the receiver at the line and then they fight for position as the route is run and pass is thrown. It might not be as physical as line play but it is still physical. That is why receivers and defensive backs are often labeled as physical or finesse.

Why does the US get involved in the civil war? Why make it a cage match when you could let the 2 (or more) side duke it out and wait to take on the winner?CID1990 wrote:Muslims in London protesting ISIS is sectarian opposition- they are taking sides in the Sunni-Shia schism- NOT protesting ISIS because they condemn religious violence
That's why both sides of this argument get this consistently wrong - this is a thousand year civil war and ISIS is just the latest result of it
Take a poll of these London protesters and they will still fall within the margin of error for Muslims worldwide when asked what the penalty should be for things like apostasy or homosexuality

I Googled that, and the top results are the Cam story, something about a Philadelphia Eagles player moving from wide receiver to tight end, something about physical characteristics of a receiver, and something about Auburn receivers being more physical (which makes sense because they probably have to block more than most receivers do).kalm wrote:Uh yes they do.Pwns wrote:

Google "physicality wide receiver".
Did not see anything that refers to WR physicality in the context of throwing WR hands off of you, and not anything about physicality in running routes.

Women sports reporters generally suck. Ever notice how most of them are pretty hot? Ever notice that most of the male reporters who didn't play the sport are generally ugly? If it weren't for their looks, most of these women would not have a job. Sorry guys, truth hurts.

Yep, notice how their usually happens to be one female sideline reporter, and she usually happens to be hot? That's not by random chance. When you start seeing some fat and/or ugly female sports reporters then I'll start believing they got their jobs based on talent instead of looks.89Hen wrote:Women sports reporters generally suck. You can say the same about the men to a lesser extent.
And its not just sports reporters, but for any reporters who appear on TV, where looks is a large part of the equation. As a whole, they are way better looking than the general population.

More logic from the JMU fan. Admits looks are important in the business and a "large part of the equation", then criticizes the intelligence of good looking female sports reporters and assumes she got the job only because of her looks. Is it not, in your world, possible that they're both good looking AND talented reporters?BDKJMU wrote:Yep, notice how their usually happens to be one female sideline reporter, and she usually happens to be hot?
