DFH lost its edge and I stopped buying their products years ago. The transition from cutting edge brewery to sustained success is difficult and most breweries seem to get complacent and fade when they attempt the transition.

I remember when Coors WAS a craft brewery. My HS friends in Texas would drive their Ford pickups to Golden and pick up a few cases. :grizo1:

Seems like every town in Maine has a craft brewery now. It's insane.

Minneapolis to ban new drive-thru's Strib Link

From banks to dry cleaners to pharmacies and even fast food, the city is considering a ban on the construction of any new drive-thrus. City leaders say drive-thrus don’t fit their vision for the future of the city, as they aim to reduce carbon emissions and increase density.

“It’s encouraging driving, it’s encouraging pollution, it’s encouraging people to sit in their cars and idle,” said Code Development Senior Planner Mei-Ling Smith.

 I wrote a dissertation email to my brother about this phenomenon. I've seen many a great brewery turn into a mass producer of a few staples.

Back then, the thing to do was to go upriver from the brewery and pee in the river

You certainly wouldn’t know about it from mainstream sources, would you?

From the NYT last October:

“In fact, it is the varied backgrounds of people who commit hate crimes in the city that make combating and talking about anti-Semitism in New York much harder.”

When the NYT says something like that ^^^^ it means that the minority of the attackers are white. In fact, it is even possible that NONE of them are white, because the NYT would mention it if there was an actual Nazi in the bunch

You can rest assured that if most of them were sporting MAGA hats or swastikas, the NYT certainly wouldn’t find it “hard” to talk about.

From February:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/18/nyre ... -york.html

Can you imagine this article tiptoeing past the cemetery in this way if actual Nazis were behind it?

This is the myopic world we live in, Jearf... and your mentality fuels it.

I've never even seen, much less met an actual Nazi (except for perhaps my wife's grandpa who was a Volga River Russian and looked just like Hitler).

Same goes for Antifa. They're seemingly no where to be found.

You've probably met quite a few antisemites you just might not have realized it. Anti-Semitism used to be associated with white supremacist alt right types. With the adoption of the Palestinians as victims it has spread to the left. Worse, it appears there is a greater possibility it could spread into the mainstream Donk agenda then the Conk agenda.

I know you in particular are not saying it, but I'll go ahead and clarify:

Calling the Israeli government out is not anti-antisemitism (btw, many arabs are Semites but that's semantics). Plenty of American Jews I know dislike and criticize the Israeli government, and they make a fairly large community in the Northern Virginia area. Of course many support Israel as well.

Saying Jews are robbing the world? Antisemetism.
Saying Israel is robbing from Palestinians? Not antisemitism.

I don't disagree with what you're saying. But IMO the false narrative that the Palestinians are victims and heroes is anti-semitic. Left wingers are trying to reshape the narrative to make the Israelis and by extension Jews the villains and that is anti-semitic. Responsibility for the conflict in Gaza and Israel/Palestine is shared and you can argue whether Israel is 51-55% or 45-49% responsible with Hamas and the Palestinians that overtly or tacitly support them taking the other percentage. Hiding among civilians to shoot rockets at other civilians is a cowardly, terrorist action.

I feel like that's a stretch of an argument.

I think it's perfectly fine to call out Israel/Hamas without demonizing the regular people that live within those communities. I don't think it's antisemitic or anti-Palestinian by association if you call out Israel/Hamas.

Of course, no one would argue that at all. And criticizing Israel is perfectly fine too, just as it is with any other country. But let's be honest, it hasn't been as clear cut as you're trying to make it out to be. Taking traditional Jewish stereotypes and then applying it to Israel still risks crossing the line into anti-Semitism. That whole thing about Isreal "hypnotizing" the rest of the world was just one example of crossing the line.

Well my grandmother was expelled from Palestine during the Nakba, where she met my grandfather in Lebanon, had my dad, who moved here during the Lebanese Civil War, and then had me.

I'm probably not born if she was never expelled. So you should really hate Israel. :coffee:

I agree that it is fine to call Israel and Hamas. My problem is with people who focus all of their criticism or blame on one side. IMO it is anti-Semitic to blame everything on Israel and by extension Jews. Hamas is an equal contributor to the problems in Gaza and Egypt, Syria, Jordan, etc. and the West all have some responsibility for the long term plight of the Palestinian people.
