His socks...

:coffee:

I find that curious
It seems like a little bit more psychoanalysis is required here
So would you describe your feelings as more outraged or betrayed when you first spotted the socks..?
I'm not outraged at all

I just have a lower opinion of someone who wears them than someone who doesn't

It also diminishes whatever virtue he is trying to project, and for me, calls to question his motives
Hmmm...
So what is it that's got your conservative brothers so upset about this situation..?
At first I thought it was just a very small group of angry white people
guys like BDKJMU offended by the "uppity nigger employees" acting up

Then something about disrespecting the flag was thrown in there as a reason
but that doesn't make any sense...
The Flag represents Americans rights to quietly protest

When that didn't work it turned to "Disrespecting the military"
But the players dismissed that as nonsense
Pointing out that many military members supported their rights
as well as their family members in the military - brothers and sisters serving

So.... what is it???
I'm still trying to figure out
what's got Conservative America so angry with these NFL players

I'm not sure why you're asking me-

I don't care if dudes kneel or show disrespect for national ceremonial traditions

If I did, I'd be pissed all the time - just go to any football game and during the National Anthem you've got tween girls yacking on cellphones, kids running around not being shushed by the parents, adults chatting with each other, etc

Come to think of it, I guess it outrages people when it is done with an agenda... and nobody is immune to that because it's baiting

Indeed,
It seems like if somebody has a beef with something on a national level
the most obvious place to advertise that dispute is during a unified show of nationalism

arguing about the legitimacy of the dispute is somewhat pointless
All that does is strengthen the resolve of those involved

I will always stand for the national anthem
but that's only because my mother would smack me upside the head if I didn't
And I'm fond of America

I think displays of unified nationalism are a little bit like brainwashing the masses

I see the NFL is really hurting. It's so unpopular that it's only getting $5 million per 30 second Super Bowl ad.

Super Bowl is a completely different animal from the regular season. Super Bowl will be the last thing to ever be effected, if it ever is. Ratings down almost double digits for the 2nd straight season. I'm sure the NFL thinks its a BFD that they have lost about 1/6th of their viewers over the last 2 seasons. Attendance down too.
http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/nfl-tv- ... -playoffs/

There are literally 10s of millions of people who watch little to no NFL who will be watching the Super Bowl. I'm one of those people (and I quit watching for numerous reasons, long before the whole kneeling during the anthem protests)..

I think the idea that the Super Bowl is a separate animal is valid but I also think that the NFL players kneeling is a very minor factor in what's been going on in NFL ratings. I think this is an intelligent assessment of the situation:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/prishe/201 ... a4e4104c34
And, since NFL ratings do not incorporate the data from most streaming options, those ratings will suffer as people consume their football content differently than ever before.

In short, while there are several variables which could be partially to blame for the NFL's decline in ratings, we should note that:

The NFL's ratings decline is not as sharp as the ratings declines for general network programming
There is compelling data which suggests that the national anthem debate is not a substantial factor in the NFL's ratings declines
Oversaturation of football content - with more windows to watch both professional and collegiate football today than ever before - is unquestionably a major factor in NFL ratings declines
Cord-cutting and consumer behavior towards how they consume sports content is the other major contributor in NFL ratings declines.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I only watch Green Bay and a few select games every year because of the stoppage time.

I must not be conservative and my friends that are liberal must be conservative. It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world,Except for Lola. Lo lo lo lo Lola. I think the players have every right to kneel and protest, while I have liberal friends that are mad at the kneeling and boycotting the NFL. People I know on both sides of the issue can't be pigeon holed into conservative or liberal. The message Kaepernick was sending got mutilated late last night by the media. Turning the African American/Police shooting message into a flag the military is fighting for issue.

Brady just lost to a back up QB and got punked twice by Manning minor in Super Bowl play. :ohno:
I think Kman would have made short work of the first QB to drop the winning TD pass in a Super Bowl.

When the game is on the line Joe Montana is who you want in the huddle. This is common knowledge wherever football is played. :coffee:

I agree with Montana - dud never lost a Super Bowl and was coming out of the NFC every year back during that stretch when the NFC was dominant. Brady has been playing in a weak sister AFC for awhile now, barring the occasional appearance of a decent Denver team.

We certainly know now that Kaepernick isn't better than at least one NFL backup QB. Frankly, I don't think he really wants to ever play football again - much better chance of making money as a martyr as opposed to being exposed as a not-very-good NFL QB.

He was good at San Fran under Harbaugh. In the right system, specifically geared around him, he's a good NFL QB and starter material. However, that offense that San Fran ran specifically steered away from passing the ball since it wasn't his forte and that system basically leaned very heavily on a stellar defense, which San Fran had at the time. If you don't have that kind of a setup, then Kap is limited in his effectiveness.

There are literally 10s of millions of people who watch little to no NFL who will be watching the Super Bowl. I'm one of those people (and I quit watching for numerous reasons, long before the whole kneeling during the anthem protests)..
This right here - I can't take the amount of stoppage time for media timeouts and reviews. The game was already barely watchable without dying of boredom before those knives were stuck into the carcass

I think the idea that the Super Bowl is a separate animal is valid but I also think that the NFL players kneeling is a very minor factor in what's been going on in NFL ratings. I think this is an intelligent assessment of the situation:
